In the spotlight

Parent consultations

It has been lovely to welcome families from Reception and Year 1 this week for the start of our parent consultations. Parents enjoyed looking through their children’s books and discussing the fantastic progress they have made so far this year.

Book Fair

A big thank you to all the children, parents and carers that came to buy books at the book fair this week. It was great to see you all enthusing about the books that we had from Scholastic and Travelling Fair. This year we had our fantastic Year 6 Reading Ambassadors helping children and parents with their recommendations and were even collecting payments. Every book sold at the fair helps us buy new books for the school through the Scholastic rewards scheme. If you didn't get a chance this term then not to worry as it'll be back in the summer term. Thank you all. Mr Dunne and the Reading Team

School dinners

From Monday 1st December, pick and mix will no longer be available as a lunch option until the summer term. We would like to encourage those children having a school dinner to have a hot meal in the colder months. Jacket potato and pasta will still remain an option daily, along with main and vegetarian meals.

Leigh Road Baptist Church

On Monday, children in KS2 enjoyed a Christmas assembly. Hanli from Leigh Road Baptist Church explained how significant the Nativity is to the Christian faith. The children told the Christmas story through Christmas cards, and they were challenged to put the cards in the correct order of events which they completed with ease. We were all reminded that Christmas is a time when people all over the world think about kindness and joy and by spreading kindness we help create a joyful Christmas for everyone.

Havens

All things Christmas!!

Christmas preparations are in full swing! Children have started rehearsals for their Christmas performances – a highlight of the school year that we always look forward to. Our wonderful PTA is also hard at work planning the Christmas Fayre, which will take place on Friday 5th December. These events are always a huge success thanks to the dedication of our volunteers. If you’re able to offer any help on the day, the PTA would be incredibly grateful. Please get in touch via their Instagram page @darlinghurstacademyPTA or email mrslowe@darlinghurstacademy.org.uk

Please make a note of the important dates below!

Tickets for our Christmas performance will not be issued, however, please be reminded that seats are limited to two per family.

Christmas cards

The Christmas card shop will be open again between 21st Nov- 1st Dec. Follow the instructions on your child's design template to order. Lost the template? Let the office know and we can find your child's code for you.

Last year, our Christmas jumper pre-loved shop was a great success. If you have any Christmas jumpers that you no longer need, the office will gladly accept any donations.
