Adding to the season's glory, individual excellence was celebrated on the state stage as Emma O’Brien garnered well-deserved accolades for her stellar play. Emma’s dedication and skill earned her a spot on the 3rd Team All-State, as well as an Associated Press 4A Honorable Mention All-State selection. While these awards highlight her specific contributions, they also reflect the strength of a program that pushes its players to reach new heights. Special Olympics Basketball

West Suburban Conference Champions - Placed in 4th in the IHSA Sectional - Qualified for State - Finished in 16th Place in State
The Lyons Township Competitive Cheer team launched into their season with an unstoppable momentum that set a gold standard from the very first whistle. The Lions were absolutely dominant in early competition, capturing first place in their first three tournaments at Bradley Bourbonnais, Joliet West, and the highly competitive West Suburban Conference Invite. This early-season triple crown showcased a squad that was not only technically proficient but possessed the poise and energy to command every mat they stepped on, proving early on that they were the team to beat.
The Lions continued their reign of excellence by securing their third consecutive West Suburban Conference Championship, a truly historic "three-peat" that cements this program as a conference powerhouse. This sustained success is a testament to the culture of hard work and elite spirit built within the LT cheer community. The Lyons Township Boys Swimming and Diving team surged through a truly historic season, combining elite individual talent with an unstoppable team dynamic. Finishing with a dominant 4-1 overall record, the Lions proved to be a powerhouse in every dual meet, eventually securing a stellar second-place finish in the West Suburban Conference. Their invitation season was nothing short of legendary, as they captured championship titles at the Barrington Bronco Relay Invite, the Marmion Cadet Relay Invite, the DGN Trojan Invite, and their very own LT Invite. This string of victories set the stage for a postseason run that would see the team finish as the IHSA Sectional runners-up, proving they belonged among the best in Illinois.
The record books were rewritten this year as the Lions reached new heights of speed and precision. Jovan Mijailovic etched his name into LT history by setting a new team record in the 100-yard freestyle, while the powerhouse quartet of Matthew Ferguson, Jack Hannon, Jovan Mijailovic, and Patrick Rhatigan shattered the 400-yard freestyle relay team record. The excellence of these four athletes was recognized on a national level, as they all achieved the prestigious status of Automatic All-American swimmers. The season culminated in a magnificent performance at the IHSA State Tournament, where the Lions climbed to finish in 5th place in the state. This elite top-five finish was bolstered by the incredible efforts of Matthew Ferguson, Jack Hannon, Jovan Mijailovic, and Patrick Rhatigan, all of whom earned All-State finishes for their remarkable performances in the pool. In the always-tough West Suburban Conference, the team battled to a 3-3 record, earning a solid fourth-place finish. Throughout the winter, the squad’s dedication was evident in every takedown and escape, showcasing a relentless work ethic that made them a formidable opponent in every dual meet.
The highlight of the regular season came when the Lions traveled to the Wheaton-Warrenville South Invitational, where they truly flexed their muscles as a collective unit. Girls Wrestling
11-5 Record in Dual Meets - 4-1 Record in the WSC - 2nd Place West Suburban Conference
The Lyons Township High School Girls’ Wrestling team delivered a powerhouse season, carving out a reputation for toughness and technique across every tournament. The Lions finished with a superb 11-5 overall record, showcasing their ability to compete at a high level and consistently come out on top. Their performance in the West Suburban Conference was nothing short of dominant, as they battled to a 4-1 conference record to secure an impressive second-place finish. This season was a true testament to the program's rapid growth and the athletes' commitment to mastering their craft on the mat.
Individual championship performances anchored the team's success throughout the winter. Sofia Turek was a force to be reckoned with, capturing first place titles at both the East Aurora Invite and the Lakes Community Invite. Matching that championship energy, Jhania Wickert-Harris also claimed the top spot at the Lakes Community Invite and reached the pinnacle of the league by taking first place at the WSC Girls Wrestling Tournament. These gold-medal finishes provided the momentum that fueled the Lions’ climb up the rankings.
The team's excellence was recognized far and wide, with a remarkable six athletes earning All-WSC Girls Wrestling team honors: Jhania Wickert-Harris, Mariah Zalapa, Ashley Uhler, Zoe Connelly, Sofia Turek, and August Pulli. Beyond their physical prowess, the program also celebrated true student-athletes, as Sofia Turek and Michelle Martinez earned spots on the All-WSC Academic team. This balance of athletic dominance and academic dedication perfectly represents the LT spirit. Congratulations to the Lady Lions on a season filled with hardware, honors, and historic achievements!
The LT Winter Season was incredibly successful. There were two conference championships (Competitive Cheer and Boys Basketball) and four teams that qualified to the state competition (Bowling, Competitive Cheer, Boys Swimming and Diving and Special Olympics Basketball). LT also sent individuals to state in one other sport (Wrestling). Three teams finished with a top twenty-five state finish (Special Olympics Basketball (1st), Boys Swimming and Diving (5th), Competitive Cheer (16th). Congratulations to the Special Olympics Basketball Team who won their first State Championship in 21 years.
There were also 10 student athletes who attended the two National Letter of Intent signing days for the winter (Patrick Cheney, Justin Heydorn, James Hillmann, Nathan McMullen, Marco Morrone, Mateo Mosqueda, Wesley Musgrove, Anabelle Olson, Lou Ratcliffe and Gwen Smith).
Seven student-athletes earned All-State honors in three different sports:
