Cape Fear Flyfishers

Cast your sights on the next Cape Fear Flyfishers meeting!

The meeting will get underway at 6:00 PM at the St. James Community Center. This month's guest is Jimmy Jacobs, editor and publisher of "On the Fly South" and. Southern Fly Fishing Hall of Fame inductee.

Weather-permitting, there will be a fly casting workshop at the pond adjacent to the community center. All skill levels welcome! Gear is available if you don't have your own.

Christmas By The Sea Parade

Santa Claus is coming to town... the Town of Oak Island, that is!

The annual Christmas By The Sea Parade is part of a weekend-long celebration that includes a tree-lighting ceremony and holiday market. We've got more details on our events calendar.

If you want to join the fun, applications are still open for parade float entries until Wednesday (11/20).

Pickleball Tourney Registration

Last call for Pickleball!

If you are planning to show off your skills at the Richard H. Stewart Jr. Charitable Foundation's Round Robin Pickleball Event this weekend, don't forget that today (11/14) is the last chance to register. Registration closes at 5:00 PM.

The tournament will be held this Saturday (11/16) at The HOP in Leland. Registration fees range from $25.00–$50.00 and will benefit children and veterans in Brunswick County.

Festival of Trees

Get in the holiday spirit with a stroll through the Museum of Coastal Carolina's 5th annual Festival of Trees showcase.

The event features trees decked out by area businesses and non-profits in themes ranging from coastal to Disney. Vote for your favorite while you're there!

Like what you see? You can place a silent auction bid to take home the fully decorated tree of your choice once the festival ends on Tuesday (12/31).

Virtual Book Club

Book lovers unite! NC Reads — a statewide virtual book club — is coming to Southport's Harper Library this Saturday.

Join the conversation about "Poster Girls" with author Meredith Ritchie, along with UNCW history professor Dr. Tara White. Discussion will center around the book's themes of women in th workforce, sexism and racism.

There will be 2 sessions and pre-registration is required. Books are available at Harper Library, as well as Barbee Library in Oak Island.

Southport Blood Drive
