SCHOOL STARTS ON WEDNESDAY
AUGUST 13th !!!
You may be aware, that a new state law requires school districts to address personal devices. Arlington ISD has adopted the Awayfor-the-Day plan. The goal of Away for the Day is to reduce distractions, improve learning focus, and support a positive, respectful school environment for all students and staff. Away for the Day means that students' personal devices, including cell phones, tablets, text-messaging devices, smartwatches, and similar electronics, must be powered off and out of sight during all parts of the school day, bell-to-bell. This includes class time, transitions, lunch on campus and restroom breaks.
Texas House Bill 1481 is a new state law passed by the Texas Legislature that requires school districts to prohibit students from using personal wireless communication devices during instructional time.
The law defines personal wireless communication devices as any electronic communication device capable of sending or receiving data that is not provided by the school for instructional purposes. This includes: Cell phones, text messaging devices, smartwatches, and any personal communication device not issued by Arlington ISD
SCHEDULES ARE AVAILABLE IN SELF-SERVE !
Parents, please RE-CHECK your schedules in self-serve. Based on schedule requests and needed adjustments, there have been some changes. We appreciate your partnership in helping to make sure we serve as many students as we can in the best way we can. We recommend you print a paper copy for your child so that they can have their schedule in front of them all day the first week. You could write down the schedule as well. Remember, they won't be able to look at a picture on their phone.
If there is a mistake on your schedule, we want to help correct that as soon as we can. If your child is in the wrong class, please complete the schedule change request below. Please remember that we can't accomodate requests to be with friends, or to have a different order of classes, but we do want to make sure every student has what they need! We will do our best to correct what we can quickly! We will work quickly, but it is possible that the changes won't be made until after school starts.
GET PLUGGED IN!
This will be an opportunity to connect with your child's teachers (if you haven't been able to do so). You can also get signed up to be involved. We will have a PTA meeting at 5:00 followed by an opportunity to join the different organizations we have on campus!

GUNN SECURITY CHECKS
We will be conducting security checks every day for students and campus visitors. Please review this procedure with your children so they are aware that it will be happening. Making sure our students and staff are safe is worth the time. Thanks for your patience! Preparation makes this process faster and easier. Just like the airport!
