Pink in the rink Feburary 2, 2024

On February 2, 2024 the Sparta hockey team faced the Kalamazoo Eagles for the first game in the Pink in the Rink tournament. Pink in the Rink is a series of games dedicated to breast cancer awareness and loved ones lost to cancer.

The hockey team begins the game by recognizing each of the players and announcing whose jersey they were wearing.
The players each wore the name of a person important to them who was affected by cancer.

Between periods, players walk to their locker room for a team discussion. On their way, the players fist bump a young fan.

Gleason anticipates the referee dropping the puck. As a center, one of his roles is competing for puck drops.

Gleason is the only Northview hockey player on the team this year, in contrast to last year when he was joined by two other teammates, both of whom graduated in the class of '23.

Gleason is pictured taking a shot on goal at the end of the third period. In this game alone, he scored three goals and therefore got what is reffered to as a hat trick.

After their six to one win against the Eagles, players lined up to high five their opponents. This also gives the fans time to applause their efforts.
