H.E Beriault School Newsletter October 2025

ADMINISTRATOR'S MESSAGE

Hello H.E.B. Community,

This fall, we have many blessings to be thankful for. Our weather has been truly a blessing, the fall leaves and the changing of seasons truly is a special time. We have been blessed with great weather to be able to watch and enjoy the time outside to see our students run in cross country races and participate in the Terry Fox Run!

I wanted to thank all families who came out to meet our staff this year at H.E.Beriault at the BBQ on Sept 18th. We shared some burgers together, listened to music, and just had a chance to have conversations face to face. It was a beautiful evening of gathering and we appreciate all of you who took time out of your busy lives to have a burger and meet our staff.

Our School Council met on Wednesday Sept 24th at 6:30 pm. Thank you for all those that attended. These meetings are in person as well as on Teams to make it easy to listen, attend, volunteer, or just hear about the ongoings of the school. All are welcome to these meetings. The next meeting with be our Annual General Meeting and we will announce the date and time once the impending teacher strike is over. The AGM will take less than one hour of your time. Please ensure you come out and learn more about the positions on our school council and volunteer to become more involved with our school community.

Orange Shirt Day this past week is intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem. Annually, on September 30, all Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honor those children who never returned home. There are over 10 000 unmarked graves that have been discovered. We keep these families in our prayers and honour them by wearing orange.

Our staff would like to wish all families a Happy Thanksgiving and many more blessings for this fall season.

Leon Vandendooren

Principal

God of all seasons, we thank you for Autumn.

We thank you

for the touch of coolness in the air that gives us a new burst of energy,

for the coloring of trees that shows the creativity of the Divine Artist,

for the falling leaves that reveal the strength of the branches,

for the hues of fields that bring peace to our souls,

for the smiles on pumpkins that bring joy to children,

for the fall harvest which that brings us gratitude for the bounty of our land,

for this change of seasons that reveals the circle of life.

God of all seasons, as you transform the earth, transform us by your Spirit.

Amen

Happy Thanksgiving

A Message from Parent Council

A Message from Parent Council

As we embark on another exciting school year at H.E. Beriault Junior High School, I am reaching out to encourage you to become actively involved in our Parent Council. Our Parent Council plays a crucial role in supporting school initiatives, and parent participation is vital in fostering a strong school community and enhancing the educational experience for our children. The council meets 5 times throughout the school year, with parents attending both in person and via Teams.

We are also currently seeking enthusiastic parents to volunteer for various council positions. Your involvement can make a significant difference!

We have several key positions available:

  • Council Chair: The Chair leads the council meetings and ensures that all voices are heard.
  • Secretary: The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes during meeting and distributing those minutes to meeting participants.
  • Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the council’s finances and completing all required financial reporting.

I encourage you to consider volunteering for one of these positions or simply participating in our meetings. Your involvement, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated and makes a positive impact on our school community.

If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please feel free to contact me at fern.rowe@hotmail.com. I look forward to working together to make this school year a success!

Warm regards,

Fern Brewer

H.E. Beriault Parent Council Chair
