My free agent predictions

By Matthew Engelhardt

These are the top free agents at each position, according to ESPN and Bill Barnwell. I will be judging who I think will fit the best on each team. Edge, Trey Hendrickson (Bengals): The Commanders have a lot of cap and need more pass rush. They allowed 6.2 yards per play (30th in the league) and have the 6th most cap space, per Roster Management System. Also three of their top four edges are free agents. DT, John Franklin-Myers (Broncos): The Panthers need to help Derrick Brown in the front and could go pretty big and solidify that they are real contenders. The team struggled, ranking 31st in pressure rate. They have enough cap space to sign this guy if they maybe restructure some contracts and release some players. LB, Devin Lloyd (Jaguars): The Buccaneers are probably going to move on from 36 year old Lavonte David. There will be a spot in the middle of the field and Devin Lloyd is the best option. The Bucs could try to be a contender in free agency and this is a great start. CB, Jaylen Watson (Chiefs): The Seahawks have Riq Woolen and Josh Jobe set to be free agents, they need to upgrade their secondary. This would help the Seahawks stay on top of the league. S, Bryan Cook (Chiefs): The Bears could potentially lose Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard III to free agency. And even if they get one of them back they will still need another Safety. They got knocked out in round 2 int the playoffs and they need to solidify themselves as real contenders. OL, Tyler Linderbaum (Ravens): The Texans need o-line depth and especially at center. Jake Andrews ranked last among qualifying centers with a 92.4% pass block win rate. This would give CJ Stroud some much needed protection. TE, Cade Otton (Bucs): The Broncos pass offense needs some work to get back to the AFC Championship. They already have Evan Engram but he did not play how the Broncos wanted him too. They had seventh-worst completion percentage and 3rd down conversion (27.4% - 30th) and red zone scoring (37.5% - 31st). The Broncos need to help out Bo Nix to have another great playoff run. WR, Mike Evans (Bucs): The Saints need to go big in free agency to help Tyler Shough. The Saints ranked 31st in pass plays that gained at least 20 yards last season. Evans would give them a threat for defenses to face. He is just one year removed from a 1,000 yard 11 touchdown season. This could help the Saints maybe win their division. RB, Kenneth Walker (Seahawks): The Chiefs need a run game and to help Patrick Mahomes. Walker had more than 1,000 rushing yards last season and added 31 catches for 282 yards -- an impressive 9.1 yards per reception average. The Chiefs' running backs struggled, with a combined average of only 3.6 yards per carry. This signing would help Mahomes and the Chiefs get back to the top of the league. QB, Malik Willis (Packers): The Jets need a QB to be somewhat contenders and Willis is the best option. Willis had a phenomenal 93.1 QBR for the Packers in 2025. He could help the Jets be at least okay this year.
