From Cape Fear Middle - Today, many students at CFMS participated in Pender Job Shadow Day which allows students to gain first-hand information about the workplace and explore the possibilities for their future careers. It’s an opportunity for Pender County Schools students to make connections between school and the real-world.

From Surf City Middle - CTE Job Shadow Day....Caught a couple of Sharks in action at THS today working on the math hall. Thank you to Ms. Setzer, Mr. O'Neill, and Ms. Anders for working with our students.

AND… Aria from Surf City Middle shadowed BM1 Allen at Camp Lejeune Coast Guard Special Missions Training Center. She observed high risk coxswain training from the water, participated in weapons instruction simulation and even got to drive the boat!

From Topsail Middle - Carolyn, an 8th grader at TMS participating at East coast Volleyball Academy, job shadowing head coach Allecia Raynor. She gave private lessons and created her own practice plan for 2 different age level teams.

From West Pender Middle - 8th grade West Pender Middle School Student Malaya is off to learn more about real estate as she shadows Mrs. Katie Linderman, a former veteran teacher of hers from Pender County Schools.

From Penderlea School - TaKari, 7th grader at Penderlea School spent the day shadowing her former teacher, Paula Finn.

AND… Mathew (Penderlea) with S&S Construction replacing a shed door.

AND… Tyler's mom shared that Tyler (Penderlea) helped load and unload truck tires, made deliveries to multiple customers (companies) and enjoyed learning how the boom truck operates while changing tires on logging equipment. Also, he enjoyed napping on the way home after his dad put him to work all day!!🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣

AND… Wyatt from Penderlea spent the day with Lunsford Timber, LLC. He helped grease and run the excavator and learned about clearing land.

From Heide Trask High - HTHS Student: Jude, Junior Canines for Service (training service dogs for veterans) Shadowed Trainer - Reagan Stauffer; Dogs - Carson, Miller. Jude got to work in many areas to help train the dogs. Grocery store, dog park, and their facility. She even got to teach a dog how to open the fridge!

From Pender High - PHS job shadowing day is well underway! A shout out to PHS graduate, Trey Jordan for taking time out of his day to do a virtual meet with our tech classes.

Job Shadow Day at South Topsail Elementary School! Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming some incredible students from Topsail Middle School, Surf City Middle School, and Topsail High School for an exciting Job Shadow Day at South Topsail Elementary School.
