Renew your mind, body, and spirit on an inward retreat! During this project, we will spend a significant portion of the week immersing ourselves in a unique retreat and getaway experience in Franklin, NH where we will have the entire place to ourselves. We will enjoy nourishing meals, explore the extensive natural beauty of the property, ski and hike the local trails, and partake in private classes such as yoga and mindfulness. In preparation for our retreat, we will learn, practice, and reflect on various contemplative techniques as guided by guest speakers and expert instructors including a former athlete and NHS alumna. By the end of the project, we will have improved our ability to find and savor daily moments of retreat and renewal.
Day 1
Today, I learned about the four pillars of mindfulness and how they connect to our daily habits. It was interesting to see how these concepts resonate with both Mrs. Aronson and Mrs. Churchill and why they matter to them. Their perspectives helped me understand mindfulness in a deeper way.
Going forward, I want to explore the idea of the inner narrative—how it shapes our thoughts and emotions, whether it can be shifted, and what practices can help cultivate a more positive and still mind. I’m curious about the ways mindfulness can actively reshape our mental patterns.
For this retreat, my goal is to relax and enjoy the experience with the people around me. After a long and challenging winter, I’m hoping this week will be a chance to reset and strengthen my overall well-being. Rejuvenation is my main focus.
I’ll know this week was successful if I leave feeling more connected to myself and those around me, with a greater sense of mindfulness and happiness. If I can carry that awareness beyond this experience, then I’ll know it was truly meaningful. -Ryley
