Note from Mr Higginbottom

Hello! We're at the end of a really busy half term already. I really hope that the weather is a little better than today during half term next week. Remember that Monday 30th October is an INSET day, so we welcome children back to school on Tuesday 31st October 2023. We've added EYFS and KS1 Nativity dates to the dates section of the newsletter - so please do make a note of these.

In this week's newsletter we're remembering Ian 'Eggy' Gillespie who very sadly passed away this week. He coached our football team to the 2022 win of the Totty Cup and we're forever grateful for his devotion and support. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Ian's family.

This week we have said a very sad goodbye to Mrs Wilmot and Miss Sajid. Mrs Wilmot has been a long standing and very valuable member of our team - she's decided that now is the time to enjoy retirement and we all wish her a happy and enjoyable retirement. Miss Sajid has been completing her student placement with us this term and we've loved having her! A huge thank you to both of them for the time they've spent with us.
A round up of the week's events
Thank you for your donations of food this week. We had a lovely harvest assembly with our special guest Father Barley.
Despite the rain, we've had another win in the Totty Cup quarter final against Mexborough St Johns. The final score was 4 - 0 (S.R (2), J.P & J.J)

Attendance Expectations
Uniform Expectations

Please support your children by ensuring they are following the required uniform expectations, including on PE days. Children should be dressed in a yellow or black polo shirt and black trousers, skirt, shorts or plain black leggings. Yellow gingham dresses may also be worn. Black cardigans or hoodies can be worn with or without the school logo. For PE, children need their white school PE top or plain white T-shirt and black shorts or tracksuit bottoms. No football shirts please. Please may we remind you to label your child's uniform with their name.

Dates for your Diary
Have a lovely Half Term!

Thank you for your continued support of our school and for supporting your child by ensuring they're at school on time and they read at least 4 times each week. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's time in school you can email enquiries@sqp.wwpat.org, find me on ClassDojo or chat to me at the start or end of the school day.

At Swinton Queen Primary School, children are aspirational, courageous and inquisitive; respectful of all.
