Message from Caroline Broadhead, Principal
I want to express how incredibly proud we are of our Year 6 pupils. They approached their SATS with remarkable resilience, focus, and determination. Their hard work and positive attitude throughout the preparation and during the exams themselves have been truly inspiring. Whatever the outcomes, they have already achieved something very special in the way they have applied themselves.
Another highlight this term was our VE Day celebration. It was absolutely wonderful to see the school awash in red, white, and blue as pupils proudly dressed to mark the occasion. A particular thank you to all the parents who joined us to create bunting—it was a joy to see families working together and sharing in the spirit of the day. These moments of community are what make our school so special.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are now looking ahead to a busy and exciting final half term, where our focus will be on preparing all pupils for a smooth and confident transition into their next academic year. There is much to look forward to, and we are excited to make the most of every opportunity in the weeks ahead.
YOU SAID, WE DID
We are delighted to inform you that, following your feedback and support, Class Dojo is now fully implemented across the school! It is being used as a reward system for celebrating children’s positive behaviour and achievements.
Thanks to the wonderful input from our School Council, we’re excited to introduce a new initiative — the Class Dojo Shop! Children will now be able to exchange their Dojo points for a variety of fun and meaningful prizes. This is a fantastic way to motivate and reward students for their hard work, kindness, and positive contributions to school life.
Exciting Trips this Term
Year 6 -Flamingo Land
During SATs week, Year 6 pupils worked exceptionally hard, showing focus, determination, and a brilliant attitude every single day. It was a challenging week, but they rose to the occasion and gave it their all.
To celebrate the end of SATs and to enjoy a fun-filled day, Year 6 headed to Flamingo Land on Friday! Alongside the Year 6 team, the children had a fantastic day exploring the park and braving some of the exciting rides. There was plenty of laughter, a few nervous giggles before the bigger rides, and lots of fun throughout the day.
From spinning rides to water splashes and everything in between, the pupils made the most of every moment.
It was a brilliant way to finish the week and make lasting memories after such a hardworking term. Well done, Year 6—you absolutely deserved a fun day out, and you made it one to remember!
Year 6-Match Day Take Over
We were incredibly lucky to be invited to a Match Day take-over at Bridlington Town Football Club – what an unforgettable experience! Our pupils had the fantastic opportunity to wave the flag, visit the changing rooms, and truly feel like VIPs for the day.
A huge thank you to all the pupils who represented us so brilliantly and embraced the experience with such enthusiasm. And an equally big thank you to the staff who helped make it all happen – your support and organisation were key to creating such a special day.
It’s memories like these that stay with us – thank you, everyone, for making it possible!
DRET Sport
This week, some of our pupils had the opportunity to travel to Endike Academy to take part in a hockey masterclass alongside pupils from other schools in our trust. It was a great experience – full of energy, learning, and team spirit!
Meanwhile, back at school, our DRET Sports Leaders hosted a cricket event for our girls. They were thoroughly impressed by the determination, teamwork, and skills on display – a huge well done to everyone who took part!
We’re so proud of how our pupils continue to embrace new challenges and represent our school with such enthusiasm and positivity. Well done, everyone!
Beyond Words
On Wednesday 21st May, two of our talented pupils took part in the Josephine Hart Poetry Competition – Beyond Words – at the regional Trust stage. It was an inspiring day, where they had the amazing opportunity to participate in a poetry workshop led by actor Gloria Obianyo, before performing their poems to a panel of judges.
We are incredibly proud of both pupils for their creativity, courage, and performance on the day. A special congratulations to Lily, who was chosen as one of the winners! She will now go on to perform her poem at the prestigious Nevill Holt Festival next month – a truly fantastic achievement.
Well done to both pupils for representing our school so brilliantly and embracing such a special opportunity!
A huge thank you to everyone who made the day so special—staff, pupils, and families alike. World Book Day at Quay was truly one to remember!
New starters open EVENINg
We were absolutely delighted to welcome our new pupils and their families to Quay Academy for our recent New Starters Open Evening. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you and to see the excitement and curiosity on the faces of our future learners.
We hope the children enjoyed sampling our school dinners, exploring the classrooms, and getting a feel for all the fantastic opportunities we offer here at Quay Academy. It was a joy to share our setting with you and to begin building the important relationships that will support your child’s learning journey.
This is just the beginning! We are looking forward to more transition events in the coming weeks, all designed to help your child settle in smoothly and confidently when they start school.
