Croeso nol! Welcome back! And a huge welcome to all our new starters! It was a joy to visit each class this morning and see so many happy, smiling faces settling in so well.
Please look out for emails next week - there will be a fair few to come. Class by class, Mrs East will be in touch to check photo permissions and contact details (please update us straight away if you change address or phone number). The teachers will be providing you with information next week about PE days, reading books, Google Classroom & Hwb logins etc as well as asking for your information to support your child and letting you know about this term's topics (and asking for your input as your local knowledge is always appreciated!). Information about clubs this term will go out next week.
Partnerships with parents - Achieve, Believe, Care
We believe that strong partnerships between school and home make a real difference to children's learning, wellbeing, and confidence. When we work together, we create a supportive community where every child can thrive.
If you need to contact your child's teacher directly, their emails are available on the class pages on our school website. A more detailed guide to Communication between Home & School is also available here. Please read! Also, follow us on Instagram to get a taste of things going across the school.
Whilst we always advertise events via our newsletter (which is text, emailed and on the website), we also keep our calendar up to date too. Please bear in mind that dates planned for later in the year are subject to change as incoming events can alter plans.
Current dates to make a note of are:

Photo day (individual & siblings) 2nd October

Meet the Teacher: Thursday 18/9/25
Parents and carers of children in Reception to Year 6 are warmly invited to drop in after school for a relaxed Meet the Teacher session, running until 4:15pm. It’s a lovely chance to say hello and put a face to the name—especially if you haven’t met your child’s teacher yet! This is a general drop-in, so if you’d like to have a more personal or detailed conversation, just let us know and we’ll arrange a separate time. We understand that not everyone can make it and really appreciate your support—attendance is completely optional.
Ways to Get Involved
There are lots of ways you can get involved in school life—whether you have a little time or a lot, your contribution makes a big difference!
Our Parent, Teacher & Friends Association helps raise funds and bring our school community together. Come along to the AGM to find out more—we’d love to welcome new faces!
Be part of the Parent Forum: this is a great opportunity to share your views and help shape school policies and procedures. We discuss feedback from parent surveys ahead of Governors’ meetings, and we’d love to have a parent representative from every class if possible. Our first meeting will be 2:30pm on 24th September. If you would be interested in joining us, please email Mrs Tucker (TuckerJ58@sch.caerphilly.gov.uk).
Volunteer your time: we’re always grateful for help with school trips, listening to readers, or supporting with classroom resources and displays. If you’re interested, please get in touch with the school office.
Join our team: we're still looking for another midday supervisor. If you'd be interested or know someone who might, please call in the office for an application form.
Spotlight on school procedures
End of the Day
All children Nursery – Year 2, should be collected from their classroom doors by a known adult. Please telephone the school to tell us if we should expect someone other than the person who normally collects them. We insist that children are collected by someone over the age of sixteen – if, in extreme emergencies, this is not possible, it is essential that you telephone the school and speak to a member of the senior management team.
We suggest that from Year 3 children are met on site, however many parents arrange to meet their children further away where there are better parking facilities. Parents of our oldest children often prefer the children to walk home in small groups. Teachers appreciate knowing your arrangements, for example if you will be at the classroom of a younger sibling, if you will be meeting them at the crossing, or if they are walking home. It helps us keep the children safe at dismissal - please drop your child's teacher an email to let them know. Children are reminded that if they are expecting to meet an adult at the end of the day, and that adult doesn’t arrive, they should return to the main office where there will always be someone available to help.
Please DO NOT take another child home without that parent’s knowledge. ALL children attending after school clubs or events MUST be collected by someone over the age of sixteen.
Morning Snack
All children Nursery - Year 2 are offered free milk every day. We encourage the children to try a variety of healthy snacks. We offer a good selection of fruit plus other healthy food options from time to time. Although the milk is free, we ask for a donation towards the cost of snacks (£1.50 a week).
From Year 3, you may choose to send your child to school with a healthy snack or they can purchase fresh fruit in school for £1.50 a week.
Belongings in School
A polite reminder that we ask that the children don't bring large bags, pencil cases or personal belongings such as toys, cards etc to school. Please do not send large bottles of water. We provide access to technology throughout the day and whilst we want children to be able to drink, large bottles, particularly those that do not have a sports cap, are a hazard. Some children are also bringing expensive branded bottles to school. We advise against this and parents are advised that bottles are brought to school entirely at their own risk. Our preference is for a small bottle with a sports top as if they are knocked they do not break and there is minimal spillage. Children are able to refill their bottle from the classroom sinks which all provide water that is safe to drink. Children are not permitted to drink squash during lesson time.
