CHARLES MORROW

Head Coach

Charles Morrow enters his 22nd season in 2025-26 as head coach of the Lipscomb Bisons after taking over the program in 2005.  Since taking over the Lipscomb program in 2005, Morrow has been named ASUN Coach of the Year four times (2013, 2018, 2022, 2023), won five ASUN Tournaments (2017, 2018, 2021, 2022 & 2023) and led the Bisons to the first five NCAA Tournament appearances in program history (2017, 2018, 2021, 2022 & 2023), including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2018. Morrow led Lipscomb to the national stage once again in 2022 when the team finished the regular season No. 7 in RPI and No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll. The 2022 team earned the No. 9 overall national seed in the NCAA Tournament and hosted a second round NCAA Tournament game after earning a first round bye. Morrow led his coaching staff to the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year award in 2022.

Morrow has identified raw talent and has developed young talent including MLS SuperDraft picks Tyrese Spicer and Malachi Jones. Tyrese Spicer was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, taken by Toronto FC while teammate Malachi Jones was the No. 8 overall pick in the same draft, selected by New York City Football Club. Lipscomb was the only school in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft to have two Top-10 picks in the 2024 draft. Under Morrow, Lipscomb has earned four ASUN Player of the Year selections, three ASUN Defensive Player of the Year selections, three ASUN Freshman of the Year selections, an ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year selection and four ASUN Scholar-Athletes of the Year. In addition, he has guided two MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalists (Noah Gulden, Tyrese Spicer), two United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Americans (Noah Gulden, Tyrese Spicer), two Scholar All-Americans, 25 All-Region selections, 66 All-Conference selections (including 31 First-Teamers), 29 All-Academic honorees, 41 All-Tournament members and 31 All-Freshmen Team members. A Lipscomb graduate himself, men's soccer head coach Charles Morrow has been a long-time stalwart around the Nashville soccer scene, first as a player during the Bisons' NAIA days and now as a coach on the Division I level. Upon graduating from Lipscomb in 1997, Morrow took over head coaching duties for both the boys and girls squads at Goodpasture High School, where he stayed until 2000. His boys teams reached the regional semifinals in both 1999 and 2000. He returned to the collegiate ranks in 2000 when he accepted an assistant coach position with Vanderbilt where he stayed until 2003. He accepted his first collegiate head coaching job at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C. in April 2003. In two seasons with the Crusaders, Morrow directed the DII squad to conference runner-up honors in the regular season and conference tournament. Off the pitch, Morrow and his squad are active in the community, primarily through YES (Youth Encouragement Services). The coaches and players offer instruction to players and coaches in six-week fall and spring youth leagues. Morrow and his wife Beth have two sons, Trip and Will.

Matt Horth

Assistant Coach

Matt Horth joined the Lipscomb Men's Soccer coaching staff in April 2023. He serves as Assistant Coach. Horth helped guide Lipscomb to a 10-4-4 record during the 2023 season, guiding the Bisons to its third-consecutive ASUN Regular Season and ASUN Tournament titles and third-straight NCAA appearance. Horth helped develop MLS SuperDraft No. 1 overall pick Tyrese Spicer and No. 8 pick Malachi Jones. Horth came to Lipscomb after a six-year stint as the Head Coach at Gordon College. While at the helm of Gordon College, Horth led the Fighting Scots to a 43-29-7 record with a 19-11-4 mark in conference play.  He guided the squad to two Commonwealth Coach Conference Championship titles (2018, 2021) in three Championship Game appearances while his team won two Commonwealth Coast Conference Sportsmanship Awards (2019, 2021). 

During his tenure at Gordon, he coached 25 All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Selections, 36 Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Academic Selections, two Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie-of-the-Year Awards, two United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men’s All-New England Region Team selections, a United Soccer Coaches All-New England Region Team member, a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American selection and a Commonwealth Coast Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner.  Horth also spent time in USL League 2 as Head Coach of Mississippi Brilla FC. He led Brilla to a second-place finish in the Mid-South Division in 2022 and produced 2 professional players during his tenure.  Prior to being named the head coach at Gordon, Horth played professional soccer with several organizations including the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer (MLS), the Atlanta Silverbacks of the North American Soccer League (NASL), the Rochester Rhinos of the United Soccer League (USL), and internationally with Icelandic club Leiknir Reykjavik of 1. Deild Karla. As a professional player, he was twice named NASL Player of the Week and was named the NASL Player of the Month during his tenure with the Silverbacks. As a forward, Horth logged over 100 professional appearances while scoring 28 goals. Horth played four years at Gordon College where he was a three-time NSCAA All-New England selection, a four-time All-Commonwealth Coach Conference First Team honoree, a New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) All-Star and the 2007 CCC Rookie of the Year. All told, he notched 37 goals and dished out 20 assists over his four-year career as a Fighting Scot.  Horth has coaching licenses through both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF). In addition, Horth graduated from Gordon College in 2010 with a B.S. in Kinesiology and received a Masters of Theological Studies from Liberty University in 2015. 

JULIAN LUCUMI

Assistant Coach

Julian Lucumi joined the Lipscomb Men's Soccer coaching staff prior to the 2025 season as Assistant Coach.

Lucumi joined Lipscomb after spending the previous two seasons at Cumberland where he was the Head Coach for the 2024 season and Assistant Coach for the 2023 season. During his time at Cumberland, he helped lead the Phoenix to win the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship and made it to the Second Round of the 2023 NAIA National Tournament. Lucumi played his senior season at Cumberland after transferring from Belmont University. During his time as a player, Lucumi helped Cumberland to the 2018 Mid-South Conference Championship and an NAIA National Tournament appearance.

Lucumi started coaching and working at Belmont's Men's Soccer camps. From there, he went on to coach at Barca Academy in Nashville where he coached two teams per season. He also provided administrative support to the academy.

In 2022, Lucumi worked as an assistant coach at Ensworth High School assisting with both the varsity boys and girls teams. He also worked as a Facility Operations Manager for the Nashville Soccer Club and spent time at Nashville United Soccer Academy.

Lucumi earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Cumberland University in May 2019 and went on to get a Master's Degree of Sport Administration from Belmont in May 2022.

DANIEL GAGLIARDI

Goalkeeper Coach

Daniel Gagliardi joined Lipscomb Men's Soccer as goalkeeper coach in June of 2025.  Gagliardi joins Lipscomb after retiring from playing professional soccer for five seasons. He was drafted in the 2020 MLS Superdraft by the Vancouver Whitecaps. He also played for Miami FC, FC Tulsa and Inter Miami. While playing professionally, he also served as an international goalkeeping coach, working with kids aged 8-18.  Gagliardi played his collegiate soccer at Florida International University, spending five season with the Panthers. He made 34 appearances and was named Third Team All-Conference USA in 2019. He graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and is also a certified personal trainer. 

SEAN JOHNSON

Strength & Conditioning Coach

Sean Johnson joined the Lipscomb Athletics staff as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach the spring of 2016.  He will be working full time with both the women's soccer, men's soccer and volleyball programs while also helping out in other areas as needed. A native of Senatobia, Mississppi, Sean earned both his Bachelors (2009) and Masters (2010) of Science from Mississippi State University. Upon graduation, Sean began his career as a Strength and Conditioning coach in baseball’s minor league circuit where, for the next five years, he worked for the Atlanta Braves and the St Louis Cardinals organizations.  He is certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength &Conditioning Coach and also obtained a higher certification in the strength field by getting his Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach certification.  Sean is married to the former Hannah Disterdick. The two met while he was working with the Memphis Redbirds in Memphis, Tennessee. They got married two years later on July 4th atop Lookout Mountain in Hannah's hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Lipscomb Soccer Complex

The Lipscomb Soccer Complex is on the main campus of Lipscomb University and boasts the best pitch and facility in the ASUN. The pitch is beautifully cared for and manicured year-around and the facility boasts a 600-seat capacity.

Practice Field

Lipscomb Men's Soccer has a dedicated practice pitch less than five minutes from campus. The field is maintained all year long and is a dedicated practice space for the men's and women's programs.

Fueling Station

A dedicated place near the locker room for student athletes for pre & post practice and game fuel and recovery

Weight Room

Lipscomb has a new state-of-the-art weight room that includes multiple individual stations with everything needed for strengthening off the pitch

Lipscomb Men's Soccer has long been at the top of the ASUN with five ASUN Tournament Championships and five ASUN Regular Season Championships since 2017.

NCAA Tournament Success

Lipscomb Men's Soccer rose to National success when the squad made an improbable run to the 2018 NCAA Sweet Sixteen

After winning the ASUN Tournament, the Bisons played No. 25 Washington in the first round. After the teams played to a 0-0 draw, Lipscomb advanced 5-4 on PKs

The Bisons then went on to Orlando to take on No. 9 UCF. Lipscomb won an overtime thriller, 1-0, to advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in program history

Lipscomb earned the right to play No. 3 Kentucky in Lexington. The Bisons fought hard, ultimately falling 2-1 to the national powerhouse

The 2022 season saw unprecedented heights for Lipscomb Men's Soccer. The squad finished No. 7 in the RPI and was a regular in the Top-25. Lipscomb was rewarded with the No. 9 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and earned the right to host Western Michigan. The Bisons hosted the Broncos in front of a standing-room-only crowd for the first NCAA Tournament game ever hosted by any sport at Lipscomb.

MLS Superdraft Success

Lipscomb has found recent success in the MLS Superdraft with the No. 1 and No. 8 overall picks in the 2023 MLS Superdraft in Tyrese Spicer and Malachi Jones

Tyrese Spicer was the No. 1 pick in the 2023 MLS Superdraft by Toronto FC. Spicer made an immediate impact in his first season there and was later traded to Orlando City where he is a regular in the lineup

Malachi Jones was selected by NYCFC with the No. 8 pick in the 2023 MLS Superdraft. He was a regular in the lineup in his first season before being sidelined due to injury
