Principal's Message
Welcome back to Term 2! I’m delighted to see our staff and students returning with enthusiasm and a strong commitment to learning and community engagement. A huge thank you to Sue Isaac and the Inclusive Education team for their insightful professional learning sessions on Disability, Inclusion, and Neurodiversity held on the first day of term for our school development day. Our Inclusive Education and Learning and Wellbeing staff really set the standard for a caring and inclusive education. Last week, I had the privilege of connecting with various community groups, including "Courage to Care," "Together for Humanity," and the NSW Board of Jewish Education. These partnerships continue to strengthen our commitment to anti-racism and fostering a school culture where every student feels a sense of belonging. Our Jewish Special Religious Education will commence this term on Monday afternoons, complementing the broad Christian SRE and reflecting the diversity of our school community.
Our student leaders have been outstanding ambassadors for Mullumbimby High School. Their participation in the ANZAC Day community events—including delivering poems, performing, singing the anthem, and marching to honour our fallen—was both moving and inspiring. Special thanks to Stephen Williams, President of the Mullumbimby RSL sub-branch, a former student, for fostering a sustainable and meaningful relationship with the school. I want to acknowledge Harriet Killips, our school captains, deeply moving performance of “The Band Played Waltzing Matilda” at the ANZAC service, as well as her ongoing involvement representing youth voices within the local arts community.
You may have also spotted Emily and Matilda Langtry on the cover of the Echo and read about Sana Bloudani’s recent trip to Sydney to meet the Minister for Education as part of the DOVES program. Our student leaders continue to shine, and we thank Sandra Karcher and Tara Gallagher for their support of the SRC and EAL/D students.
This week, we have been gifted a shortened week with the ANZAC day public holiday on Monday. Our school ANZAC assembly was held during period 3 on Tuesday and we are looking forward to our school Cross Country Carnival today Wednesday. Thank you all for your continued dedication and commitment to our school community. Together, we are building a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment for every student. Ms Bree Harvey-Bice, Principal

NSW Student Council Member
Congratulations to Sana Bloudani, our newest NSW Student Council Member! We are thrilled to announce that Year 10 student, Sana Bloudani, has been selected to represent Mullumbimby High school on the prestigious NSW Student Council. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to Sana's dedication and leadership qualities. Recently, Sana travelled to Sydney to attend her first official NSW Student Council conference. During the conference, she participated in a range of insightful workshops focused on student leadership, teamwork, and community engagement. These sessions provided valuable skills and inspiration that Sana will bring back to our school community. We are also proud to share that Sana was officially inducted into the NSW Student Council at the conference, marking the beginning of an exciting journey ahead where she will have the opportunity to contribute to important discussions and initiatives on behalf of students across the state. Please join us in congratulating Sana on this remarkable accomplishment. We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have as a leader and voice for our students. Well done, Sana!
Reminder of school procedures: Leaving Early, Arriving Late or Messages
GOING AWAY 5 DAYS OR MORE? A reminder to our school community that the NSW DET requires that parents arrange holiday DURING school vacations. If your family holiday is during school time, you will need to inform the School Principal in advance and submit a permission to leave from school. An application for leave should be provided at least two weeks prior to departure. Ask our office for an “Application for Leave” BEFORE the holiday. ABSENT, LATE OR EARLY? If your child is not at school, let us know they are safe. We will let you know they are not at school with an SMS message if we have not heard from you. COMING IN LATE? School starts every day at 8:50am for all students. If students arrive after that time and miss CARE (roll call), please let the school know why they are late or provide them with a note. Students need to sign in at Student Services Office as soon as they arrive on the premises. LEAVING EARLY? Only legitimate one-off appointments will be approved by the principal. A note or a phone call should be made to Student Services before 9:30am and a leave pass will be processed. MESSAGES TO STUDENTS? Please call before 2pm. Only URGENT messages will be passed on during class time. We ask that all arrangements regarding after school activities be discussed with your student BEFORE school to avoid stress and distraction.

Join the NSW Dolphin Census! Help fill vital knowledge gaps and improve our understanding of dolphins in New South Wales. On Saturday 30 May 2026, we’re inviting coastal communities right along the NSW coast to take part in the first NSW Dolphin Census — a statewide citizen science event to help map where dolphins are found across our coastline, bays and estuaries. Dolphins are deeply valued along our coast, yet we still know surprisingly little about many populations. By taking part, you’ll help create a valuable statewide snapshot of dolphin presence and distribution, contributing to real research and long-term conservation. How to Get Involved Getting involved is simple:
- Register online at https://www.dolphinresearchaustralia.org/dolphin-census/new-south-wales/
- Complete a short training session (approx. 2 hours)
- Head to your chosen location on 30 May and observe dolphins
You can take part from a beach, headland, harbour, bay or river estuary — for as little as 15 minutes or the whole day. Training Options Available To ensure everyone can participate safely and confidently, we’re offering a range of training options throughout May: Face-to-Face Workshops Hastings Point, NSW -15th May Lennox Head, NSW - 23rd May Online Training Live online webinar - 27th May Self-paced eLearning course You can choose the option that best suits your schedule when you register. Why It Matters Across large stretches of the NSW coast, there are still major gaps in knowledge about dolphin distribution, habitat use and population status. By bringing together citizen scientists across the state, we can help fill these gaps and build the knowledge needed to better protect dolphins and their habitats into the future. Be Part of It Whether you’re a regular ocean user or simply love spending time by the coast, this is your opportunity to contribute to meaningful marine science. Register now: https://www.dolphinresearchaustralia.org/dolphin-census/new-south-wales/ Together, we can build the knowledge needed to better protect dolphins along the NSW coast. This project is delivered in partnership with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and supported by the NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy.
The NSW Dolphin Census is part of our East Coast Dolphin Watch Citizen Science Program.
