Administrator's Message
Hello H.E.B. Community,
This fall, we have many blessings to be thankful for. Our weather has been truly a blessing, the fall leaves and the changing of seasons truly is a special time. We have been blessed with great weather to be able to watch and enjoy the time outside to see our students play soccer, run in cross country races and participate in the Terry Fox Run!
I wanted to thank all families who came out to meet our staff this year at H.E.Beriault at the BBQ on Sept 14th. We shared some burgers together, listened to music, and just had a chance to have conversations face to face. It was a beautiful evening of gathering and we appreciate all of you who took time out of your busy lives to have a burger and meet our staff.
Our School Council met on Thursday Sept 28 at 6:30 pm. Thank you for all those that attended. These meetings are in person as well as on Teams to make it easy to listen, attend, volunteer, or just hear about the ongoings of the school. All are welcome to these meetings. The next School Council meeting will be held on Thursday November 30th at 6:30 pm.
Orange Shirt Day is intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem.
Annually, on September 30, all Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honour those children who never returned home.
There are over 10 000 unmarked graves that have been discovered. We keep these families in our prayers and honour them by wearing orange.
On September 29th, students and staff gathered on our basketball court for an orange shirt day photo as a school. H.E.Beriault is located on Treaty 6 territory in ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ Amiskwacîwâskahikan and the homeland of the Métis Nation
Our staff would like to wish all families a Happy Thanksgiving and many more blessings for this fall season
Leon Vandendooren, Principal
O Great Creator, we give praise and thanks to you for our lives and for our families. Your gift to us of human community is one of your greatest blessings. We thank you for our Elders – our grandfathers and grandmothers – whose patience and wisdom guide our lives. We thank you for our fathers and mothers, who by giving their love to each other bring us into the world, nurturing and leading us. We thank you for our brothers and sisters, with whom we come to know what sharing and caring really means. We thank you for young people, whose hope for a better world, energizes and inspires us. We thank you for the little ones – the children – whose innocence and promise bring gladness and joy.
O Creator, may our families always be that blessed and first community that we honour and cherish. As you continue to make all things new, may we hear your invitation – in all creation – to receive and share all that is good and true with each other.
O God, we also face many challenges and crises in our lives and world. May our families continue to be the first and constant community that shows us how to live intimately and respectfully with all people, and all creation.
May all Glory, Praise, Honour and Thanksgiving be shown to you, Father of all mercies and compassion, Jesus Saviour and Guardian of our souls, and Spirit of peace and communion.
Amen.

School Fees
School fees have been added to all students’ accounts. Please sign into your PowerSchool account to view. The fee for each option ensures that the proper materials and supplies are available to each student to benefit fully from the course. All payments must be made online. Cash and cheques will not be accepted.
Please check throughout the year as other fees may be added for fieldtrips, sports teams, etc.
If you have any questions or issues regarding the fees please call the office at 780-489-5490 to make an appointment to speak to the principal.
Student Registration Online Verification for All Students
Once again, the confirmation of your child’s registration information including your address, phone numbers, email addresses, parish information etc. must be updated on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. You will find the link to the form after logging into PowerSchool Parent Portal on the left in a tab called "School Engage." Please ensure that you complete the electronic verification process as quickly as possible as is vital that the school has your most up-to-date contact information. All newsletters will be emailed at the beginning of the month to the email address provided by your family.
School Safety
Within Edmonton Catholic School District, the safety of our students is always a top priority and the students are well supervised when they are on school property. When situations occur that warrant emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all students, we will provide parents with accurate and up to date information. One way to keep parents informed about an emergency and the safety procedures that have been put into place is by posting the information on the school website. Information will be posted and updated as required when a school is experiencing an emergency. If there is an emergency situation at the school where your children attend, check the school website to stay informed and receive timely information. We also need to keep phone lines available at the school during an emergency, so we ask that you do not call the school. This will enable the staff at the school to keep in touch with emergency providers and District personnel. Thank you for your support and help in ensuring our students remain safe. By having our school engage in various safety practices/protocols, we will ensure the proper steps needed for responding to emergent or threatening situations. This will allow our students and staff to be prepared and react in a proactive manner in keeping the safety of everyone as our top priority.
The Terry Fox Run was a great success at HEB!
On Friday, September 22, we had 430 students and all staff participate in a 3-kilometer loop in our neighboring communities of Patricia Heights and Wolf Willow. A beautiful sunny morning provided a perfect setting for our annual event to fight cancer and continue to "TRY LIKE TERRY!!" Our school raised $817.75 to support the Terry Fox Foundation. Thanks to Mr. Vandendooren and Mrs.Bates who led our students in the run. Thanks to our student volunteers that helped at the finish line and distributed popsicles to the students at the end of the event. Thank you to our parents for your continued support of this event.
