SLT Update
In this last week of term, we have had the very exciting House Championship reveal on Monday - congratulations Terra! Terra enjoyed their reward afternoon on Tuesday, with giant inflatables and a BBQ. On Thursday we had our attendance and behaviour reward with more fun outside and our 6 tutor groups, who have made their way all the way around the Houseopoly board this academic year, had a BBQ in the sunshine too! On Friday we celebrated the end of the academic year with our reward assembly, with over 220 awards being given for ATL, attendance, subject awards, core values, above and beyond and being perfect. A celebratory way to end the year.
As this is my last day as Head of School, I would like to thank all our wonderful families for your support over the years. I wish you all a fabulous summer and your children the very best for the future. May they all shine bright.
Miss King, Head of School
Uniform
With the summer holidays fast approaching, we wanted to send out a reminder about our expectations for shoes for September, to give you time over the holidays to ensure all students have appropriate footwear for our return.
All students are expected to wear black formal shoes that can take polish. Trainers, boots, open toe shoes and other forms of footwear are not appropriate for school. Student who are not wearing the appropriate shoes in September will be sent to the boot room to change their shoes.
We appreciate costs are increasing, as an academy we try to keep everything as affordable as we can, and we want to provide all families with the maximum amount of time to purchase any uniform and shoes.
Thank you for your support with this,
Mr Thornton
Table Talk
This week we have had our Big Reveal and the House Championship Winners’ celebration. For the last table talk of the year we would love it if you talk about how students have demonstrated our values through the house competitions and what they might commit to action for next year. Could they get involved in more house competitions? Could they put themselves forward for a leadership role? Could they improve their attitude to learning (ATL) and complete all their homework on time so they get maximum points for their house in those competitions?
Wishing you a wonderful summer from Table talk!
Why We Do What We Do
At CRA at the end of the year staff all exit the building to stand and wave the students off wishing them well for their holidays. It has become a tradition and staff don't feel we have brought the year to a close without it. It is another way to show the care staff have for our community and build on the sense of belonging for the students.
Music
From September 2025, students will be able to have music lessons provided for by Lincolnshire Music Service. If your child is interested, please follow this link to view the letter with full information and the contact details.
Maths Department
Each week, our students at CRA, complete maths questions for their homework on Sparx. Some students answer additional questions, further increasing their mathematical knowledge. We do this as there are online resources to help and guide students if they are struggling with a question. You might like to ask them to show you what they typically do on a weekly basis.
This weeks Sparx Stars are
- Isabella B- Year 7
- Sean P - Year 8
- Harvey B - Year 9
- Harry S - Year 10
Times Tables
At the end of all lessons students stand behind their chairs in silence to prepare for themselves for the next lesson. From September, on a weekly rota, Years 7 and 8 will be reciting their timetables to help embed them in their long term memory.
Accelerated Reading
Details and period of the day to be confirmed in September

If your child is absent from school, please ensure you contact school daily either by email/MCAS or by telephoning the attendance line 01476 550333 ext 502. It is vital we are notified everyday of any absence for safeguarding reasons, unless previously authorised. Leave of absence request
A Principal can only authorise a leave of absence in exceptional circumstances. We will take into account the Government guidance when considering what the exceptional circumstances are- all applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. You may be able to take your child out of school in exceptional circumstances, providing an application is made in advance by the parent/carer, this request complies with Government guidance and the leave is deemed to be ‘exceptional’ by the Principal.
If you take a leave of absence without our permission or if your child fails to return by the agreed date if permission was granted, then this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and noted in your child’s record. You might also be issued with a fixed penalty notice for this absence. If your child has not returned within 10 days of the expected date of return then, after consultation with the Local Authority, we may take your child off our school roll.
As examples, the following reasons are not considered to be exceptional circumstances:
- availability of cheap holidays
- periods overlapping with beginning or end of term
- visits to family
- renewing passports
Requests for leave of absence will only be considered if made in writing. Please ensure you use the leave of absence request form to do this.
