About George T. Nasuti Elementary
The Woonsocket Education Department, in collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Education is proud to advance a design-build project that will bring a new elementary school to Barry Field at 44 Smithfield Road in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. This thoughtfully planned 133,000-square-foot facility will occupy approximately half of the Barry Field site, balancing educational needs with preservation of community open space. The building program includes modern academic classrooms, staff and administrative areas, a music room, a media center, a medical suite, and student support spaces. Community-oriented features such as a cafeteria with an integrated stage and a full gymnasium will offer flexible spaces that can serve both school and neighborhood activities. A complete kitchen and back-of-house operations will support daily use and special events alike. Sustainability and student wellness are central to the project’s vision. The school will be designed in accordance with NE-CHPS Version 4.0 standards, promoting energy efficiency, healthy indoor environments, and long-term operational savings that benefit the entire community.
