Nana's Homemade Custard

Custard is a dessert that i always ate at my Nana's house, as a special treat before bed. As a child i loved having it as it was nice and warm and had a 'soothing' taste. It has become a staple comfort food in our house and is a regular when my younger cousins come and visit.

Ingredience:

  • Milk 500g
  • Butter tablespoon
  • Vanilla 1 teaspoon
  • 2 Eggs
  • Sugar 70g
  • Corn flour 40g

Procedure:

  1. Bring the milk, butter and vanilla flavouring to a simmer in a small saucepan. Remove from heat before it boils.
  2. Whisk the eggs, sugar and corn flour in a separate bowl.
  3. Over low heat, slowly whisk the egg mixture into the milk mixture.
  4. Serve warm and enjoy :)

  • Please note that at different temperatures the custard will be different consistencies. If you want to thicken the custard add corn starch or place in the fridge for approx. 20 minutes.
