Welcome to the the 2023-2024 Broughal Music Blast! This is a bittersweet time for many. With only a few days left of school, many are excited for Summer vacation, while others will miss the people and the memories they created this school year. We certainly will miss our 8th graders who have accomplished so much in a short amount of time. We wish you nothing but the best as continue your journey in high school and beyond. We also are excited to welcome the incoming 6th graders, who will join a phenomenal crew of students next year. Make sure you mark your calendars for Summer Music Camp, and check out the LAST edition of the 2023-2024 Broughal Music Blast carefully so that you are ready to wrap up this school year and enjoy your Summer. Go Rockets! Please note that the Broughal Music Blast will be sent out every weekend, detailing the rehearsal schedule, upcoming events, and important announcements.
Liberty HS Band & Orchestra Meeting for Incoming Freshmen
On Tuesday, 5/28, the band and orchestra directors from Liberty High School hosted a meeting for incoming freshmen. However, many of our 8th graders were unavailable to attend because of the overnight camping trip. Thankfully, the directors have shared their presentation and handouts. If you will be in Liberty's band and/or orchestra next year, please take a moment to review the presentation and the video with Mr. Stoltz's commentary/explanations. Handouts will be passed out to students this week. If you have any questions, please talk to Mr. Stoltz or reach out to the Liberty HS directors.
Uniform Collection - Friday, 5/24
All Band Uniforms should have been returned on Friday, 5/24, after the Fountain Hill Memorial Day Service. Please make sure you return the following items so that they can be dry cleaned and prepared for next school year:
- Jacket
- Pants/Shorts
- Garment Bag
- Leadership Cord
- Shoes/Boots
- Beret
Students may keep their Gloves. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz.
Return School Instruments by Friday, 5/31
8th grade students and students who are not playing an instrument next year should have returned their school instruments and equipment by the end of the day on Friday, 5/31. Students who do not return their instruments and equipment will be charged for the replacement of missing instruments and equipment. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org) as soon as possible.
Mark your calendars for the 2024 Broughal Summer Music Camp! We’re thrilled to welcome new and old students to this two-week period. Students will work on music for the upcoming school year and create a strong community of learning. We HIGHLY recommend that EVERYONE who plays an instrument participates in Summer Music Camp. It also is a great opportunity to get involved with the Music Department - even if you have no experience! Registration for Summer Music Camp will be sent via email over the Summer. Hershey's Candy Fundraiser
Our first fundraiser ended! Students should return $104 to the BMPO. All money and orders were due on Thursday, 9/21! For each box sold, students earn $42 towards their Broughal Music account. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

$50 Fair Share Due Thursday, 9/21
The $50 Fair Share was due on Thursday, 9/21. We use this money to purchase music, supplies, clothing, food, and beverages. We also use these funds to pay for transportation, field trips, and various items and events throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

If you need paper copies of the Handbook Forms, please contact one of the Directors. All electronic and paper Handbook Forms are due by Tuesday, 10/4. Don't forget to fill out the paper BASD Medical Form in addition to the electronic forms!
