PENTECOST
________________________
It is the 2nd of the great feasts and it always occurs on a Sunday. At first glance it may seem like a day that was used by an agriculture society to signify the time of harvest. Now it is true that Israel would present their first fruits before God. They could not eat their harvest until this was done. Leviticus 23:9-14. None of us are farmers and only a few of us may have had a garden. That does not mean Pentecost was nailed to the cross! The ordinances and statutes of this feast represent our participation in our salvation.
WE MUST LOOK DEEPER

Obtaining your soul salvation will be the most difficult task you will face. The cup of salvation is bitter, sweet and has unique aspects for each saint of God. During the Feast of Passover we learned about what God did for us and what we must do for him. We must remove the leaven (sin) out of our lives. If we do that then we will be able to pass over from death into eternal life.
THE FEAST OF WEEKS

Our best efforts or first fruits belong to God and God only. If you give these fruits to anyone else you have placed them above God. Our best efforts are reflected in our priorities or what value do we place on the reverence of God in our lives. This can be detected in what a person says, does and what they fill with their time.
THE LOAF VERSUS CRUMBS

What is the best effort writing an essay for your teacher that requires countless drafts until it is perfect. However when it is time to read your bible you barely can read 10 verses because you are so tired? You are able to spend time reading books, TV or time catching up on Social Media but you have very little time for prayer. Which seems to be more important? God knows when you are giving him your best effort, if you are giving him seconds or crumbs.
FEAST OF WEEKS

As a recap the Pentecost teaches us to remember to give God our best effort so that we may qualify for the work that Holy Spirit will do for us. Our example on how to be a living sacrifice is our Savior Lord Jesus. He was faithful to God the Father in all things. If we become like Christ we will be waved before the throne of God. Of course one cannot enter heaven or stand before the Ancient of Days in mortal flesh. We need the Holy Spirit to transform our bodies and makes us acceptable before the Ancient of Days.
