Finals are underway and starting tomorrow Tuesday, April 30 – Monday, May 6.
- We’re kicking off one of our favorite traditions...Late Night Breakfast will be served tonight, Monday, April 29 at 8 p.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Colonnade. Breakfast is available to currently enrolled students only, while supplies last.
- TAMIU’s Testing Center will have extended hours during finals week, Tuesday – Friday, April 30 – May 3 and on Monday, May 6 from 5 - 8 p.m. by appointment ONLY for anyone who needs access to a computer to take finals.

- Spring 2024 Commencement Exercises are Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Sames Auto Arena.
- UniversityHQ, an independent educational organization providing higher ed information for students, has ranked TAMIU among its tops in Texas online and bachelor’s degree programs.Among Texas Online Colleges and Universities, TAMIU was ranked No. 3 among the Top 25 institutions ranked. TAMIU outranked Southern Methodist University (No. 4), University of Houston (No. 5), and Texas Tech University (No. 6). A second ranking for Best Bachelor’s Programs in Texas ranks TAMIU No. 7 among the Top 25 with TAMIU again outranking SMU (No. 8), UH (No. 9), and Texas Tech (No. 10).
- Congratulations are in order for three TAMIU students who won prizes in the 28th Annual Wstern Hemispheric Trade Conference here. The Best Student Paper Award went to Patrick Glavee, a doctoral student. The first Honorable Mention Award went to Augustine Tarkom, also a doctoral student. A second Honorable Mention Award for Best Paper by a TAMIU Undergraduate Student went to Diego Hernández.
- Kudos to TAMIU assistant professor of English, Dr. Nathaniel R. Racine. He has the rare privilege of conducting research on famed author Jack London this summer as part of a Fellowship at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA. Find out more.
- A round of applause for assistant professor of Art Emily Bayless! Her piece entitled, “Our Spot” was selected for the 25th San Angelo National Ceramic Competition and was one of the 102 works selected out of 750 pieces submitted.
- We also extend our congratulations to the newest professional student organization on campus, the Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE). SPE’s faculty advisor is Dr. Khaled A. Enab, TAMIU assistant professor of Engineering. Here’s the details.
- What are you doing after graduation? Nereyda Molina, a senior Biology major and Spring 2024 graduate will begin her Master’s degree in Biostatistics at the University of Iowa this Fall. Read about her motivational journey at TAMIU and beyond.

Testing Center
The Testing Center will have extended hours during finals week, Tuesday-Friday April 30 – May 3 and on Monday, May 6 from 5-8 p.m. by appointment ONLY for anyone who needs access to a computer to take finals. Should you need a computer that has access to Blackboard and/or webcam, we can provide you with a secure and quiet place to test. You can come to the Zaffirini Success Center room 201.
The Testing Center will be providing scantrons, blue books, and pencils/pens free of charge in the following locations:

TAMIU Student Accepted Into Graduate Biostatistics Program at the University of Iowa
Nereyda Molina, a senior biology major and mathematics minor, who plans to graduate this Spring 2024, will begin her master’s degree in Biostatistics at UI in the Fall 2024. She credits her success to the support she experienced throughout her tenure as a TAMIU student, including her undergraduate research experiences.
Society of Petroleum Engineering Student Chapter Launched at TAMIU
The Petroleum Engineering Program at TAMIU is proud to announce the addition of its newest professional student organization, The Society of Petroleum Engineering. The newly launched student chapter welcomed its newest group of 42 members this Spring 2024. Lauded as the largest community of petroleum engineers in the industry and academia, SPE hosts annual activities to discuss the latest technology, findings, and trends in the energy sector.
