Welcome Dustdevils!

Monday, March 24, 2025

Dear University Community,

  • Thanks to all participants in this year’s The Big Event held Saturday. Over 500 of your classmates, friends, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered to show how Dustdevils can impact this community...it’s how we ‘Go Beyond’!
  • Volunteers helped at several locations, including the Haynes Recreation Center, Arturo Benavides Park, and Slaughter Park, and were joined by fellow students from Laredo College for the first time...maroon and green are a great combination. See a gallery here.
  • Our thanks to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement, Student Government Association, Leaders Organizing Volunteer Events (L.O.V.E.) Committee, City of Laredo, Keep Laredo Beautiful, TAMIU Housing and Residence Life, the Rio Grande International Study Center, ARCA Continental Southwest Beverages, and Laredo College.

Dustdevil Athletics:

Don’t forget, your Dustdevil Baseball and Softball teams are at bat with games as follows

  • Baseball: In the last game of their Lone Star Conference matchup, Dustdevils scored first, but a late Angelo State rally led the Rams to a 4 - 2 victory on Sunday. The Dustdevils head to bye week March 28 - 30. They return to action April 4 at home against Texas A&M – Kingsville.
  • Softball: Dustdevils celebrated Youth Day this weekend against St. Edwards. Local softball teams and youth joined the Dustdevils as they battled the Hilltoppers in Conference action, splitting against the Hilltoppers. The Dustdevils took game one 5 – 3 but fell against the Hilltoppers 4 - 11 in the second. They’re back in action Friday and Sunday against Cameron University and Oklahoma Christian.
  • Can’t make the game? Tune in to get live stats or stream! Details at https://godustdevils.com

Today’s quote came from the poet, Anne Bradstreet:

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
