Employee Spotlight Melissa Lee, Microsoft/CADD/Special Training Program Manager

LTRC Employee Spotlight was created as a way to learn about LTRC employees and better understand the many ways collaborative contributions affect the department and help the center function on a daily basis. If you would like to nominate someone for an Employee Spotlight, please email Jenny Gilbert at jenny.gilbert@la.gov.

What is your position at LTRC and how long have you been an LTRC employee?

I am the Training and Development Program Manager and have been with LTRC for 18 years.

What does a typical day look like for you?

It consists of answering lots of phone calls and e-mails; scheduling classes statewide (UNO Computer, CADD, ArcGIS, and ATSSA) for the districts and here at TTEC in SuccessFactors; sending out reminder notices for classes that are already scheduled; printing/emailing the rosters; and entering all class completions and/or grades in SuccessFactors. I also spend time creating work orders and resolving building issues, since I am the building coordinator for the TTEC Building.

What about your job makes you excited to come to work and why?

I love my job because I get to work with people statewide. I work a lot with the district training coordinators.

What is your favorite snack and/or lunch?

I would have to say my favorite snack is the Brach’s Classic Jelly Beans. I am just thankful they are seasonal, but thanks to Amazon I can order them year round now.

What is a goal you have for yourself or your position in the next 5 years?

A goal for myself in the next 5 years is looking to retire. A goal for my position in the next 5 years is to continue add courses to our contracts that are needed by the departmental people, but that are also beneficial in helping them do their jobs more efficiently.

How do you enjoy spending your weekends or free time?

A lot of my spare time during the summer months is spent in the swimming pool, and during the fall and winter months, I enjoy deer hunting with my husband. Most of my spare time during the week is trying to convince my dog, Wrangler, that he is a DOG and not a human!
