  • We had a remarkable “Make A Difference Day” at Slaughter Park with over 500 students, faculty and staff participating. The Park looked amazing when our initiative ended. A big thanks to everyone involved: Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement, Student Government Association L.O.V.E. Committee, the City of Laredo Solid Waste Department through its Environmental Services, Keep Laredo Beautiful, and ARCA Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages. Support also comes from Parks and Recreation Services and City Council Representative District 8, Alyssa Cigarroa.
  • Prior to the Nov. 7 visit by the prolific and much-loved author Sandra Cisneros, we’re hosting a free book giveaway event on Thursday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Breezeway between the Dr. F. M. Canseco Hall and the Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall. Fifteen copies of Cisneros’s recent poetry collection, Woman Without Shame, will be given away. To receive a free book, individuals will need to take part in a video recording to help promote the Cisneros event.
  • Our All Major Career Fair is Wednesday from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Student Center Ballroom.
  • Employers include Austin Police Department, Border Region Behavioral Health Center, Dell, Doctors Hospital of Laredo, Homeland Security Investigations or ICE, Laredo Independent School District, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and many more.
  • On Thursday, don’t miss University of Texas at Austin associate professor of Astronomy Dr. Steven Finkelstein’s presentation on the earliest formation of the galaxy at 7 p.m. at the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. Titled "Our First Glimpse of the Earliest Galaxies with the James Webb Space Telescope," Dr. Finkelstein's lecture will focus on the earliest days of the universe as captured by the James Webb Space Telescope. Sponsored by TAMIU longtime partner and benefactor Guillermo Benavides, this lecture is free and open to the public of all ages.
  • If you’ve ever wondered where you might Go Beyond with your TAMIU education, look no further than Juan Gilberto Garcia, Jr., who has gone from a being a wide-eyed freshman from Roma to our new Vice President for Student Engagement. Read his story and find out more.
  • Not Alone: Working Together in the Fight Against Human Trafficking, an original exhibition produced by the Bullock Texas State History Museum, is now on view at the TAMIU Academic Innovation Center (main entrance lobby). It’s on view at TAMIU through Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023 and is hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences, department of Psychology and Communication.

TAMIU Make A Difference Day Counts on the Support of 525+ Volunteers

TAMIU students, staff and faculty members rolled up our sleeves and made a difference in their community. Volunteers spent their Saturday morning at Slaughter Park beautifying the area and painting trails. The event involved the collective efforts of TAMIU's University Student Government Association L.O.V.E. Committee, the City of Laredo - Government Solid Waste Department through its Environmental Services, Keep Laredo Beautiful, and ARCA Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages. Additional stewardship support included the City of Laredo - Parks & Recreation Department and City Council Representative District 8, Alyssa Cigarroa.

TAMIU All Majors Fair Set for Wednesday

Calling all career-seekers! Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is inviting career seekers to its Fall 2023 All Majors Fair Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Student Center Ballroom. Over 30 employers will be in attendance representing various industries.

Employers present at the Fair include the Austin Police Department, Border Region Behavioral Health Center, Dell, Doctors Hospital of Laredo, Homeland Security Investigations or ICE, Laredo Independent School District, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and more.

Astronomer Dr. Steven Finkelstein Presents TAMIU Lecture on the Formation of the Galaxy this Thursday

University of Texas at Austin associate professor of Astronomy Dr. Steven Finkelstein will present a lecture on the earliest formation of the galaxy Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at TAMIU's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. Finkelstein studies the processes by which galaxies evolve through time, from extremely small systems in the universe, to large galaxies today, like the Milky Way.

TAMIU CFPA Hosts Several Musical Performances, Silent Movie Saturday

Several musical performances are scheduled at TAMIU's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. All events are free and open to the public

Halloween Fest, Trick-or-Treating Fun for All, Returns to TAMIU with 50+ Booths

TAMIU's Campus Activities Board, in partnership with the TAMIU Office of Student Orientation, Leadership, and Engagement, will present its ever-popular Halloween Fest Monday, Oct. 30, from 6 - 9:30 p.m. on the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center Green. Halloween Fest is a family-friendly event that features food, games, music, and costume contests, amongst others. Entrance is free and open to the public.

Celebrated Novelist Sandra Cisneros to Lecture at TAMIU Tuesday, Nov. 7, Book Giveaway Planned for Oct. 26

One of the most iconic writers of modern literature, Sandra Cisneros, will visit TAMIU on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., sharing a reading, Q&A, and book signing in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. Presented by the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Humanities, this event is free of charge and open to all.

Prior to an upcoming visit by the prolific and much-loved author Sandra Cisneros, TAMIU will host a free book giveaway event on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Breezeway between the Dr. F.M. Canseco Hall and the Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall.

TAMIU is a member of the Lone Star Conference and competes in 11 sports: volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.
