Meet the Teacher

This week, we were delighted to welcome parents, guardians, and carers into school for our Meet the Teacher session. The event was a fantastic opportunity for families to spend time in the classroom, meet their child’s teacher, and explore our new library.

The classrooms were filled with pride and excitement as children showed their adults where they sit, shared their learning, and spoke enthusiastically about the year ahead. It was wonderful to see so many families joining us to strengthen the important home–school partnership that supports every child’s success.

Best Wishes

Mrs Cook (Principal)

HOMEWORK SCHEDULE

Many parents have been asking about our homework expectations. Please find below the homework schedule for all year groups from Year 1 to Year 6.

Year 1

  • Reading – please read daily with your child.
  • Spellings – your child will be taught one spelling rule per week. To help secure their understanding, your child’s class will display (outside the classroom door) the ‘three’ spellings of the week for them to practise at home. If necessary, your child will also be given a sticker detailing the words.

Year 2

  • Reading – please read daily with your child.
  • Times tables – please practise regularly – TTRS (Times Table Rock Stars). Children will also be given specific times tables to practise for weekly tests.
  • Spellings will no longer be sent home for a weekly test. Instead, children will have the opportunities to practise their spellings during lessons and assessments will take place during dictations and written pieces. However, we welcome your support in helping your child understand the complexity of spelling and will be providing every child with a list of Common Exception Words. We would appreciate your help in spending 5 minutes, where possible, practising these spellings with your child. Please only focus on a small number at a time. Once you feel confident that your child has a secure knowledge of those spellings, please try new ones.

Years 3-6.

  • Following a review of our previous homework provision, we have invested in an online platform which will provide children with individual homework to support their learning. As well as the online platform, children are still expected to read daily and practise their times tables (TTRS).Children will also be given specific times tables to practise for weekly tests.

In addition to the above, there may also be additional homework set which supports the learning in class.

Thank you for your continued support.
