A bit about me

I grew up in Northern Kentucky. After seven years away for school, I returned in 2010 with my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English language and literature from Miami University and Indiana University.

Upon finishing my degrees, I spent two years in post-grad academia as a research assistant and writing and composition instructor to first-year college students.

From there, I entered the communications world by way of the outdoor/adventure publishing industry, where I spent more than a year executing content marketing, media outreach and social media strategy for two imprints, Menasha Ridge Press and Wilderness Press.

I then moved to managing clients’ web content, social media and SEO for a Cincinnati-based web design and hosting firm.

Soon, I added local journalism to the mix as a freelance contributor to two Northern Kentucky regional news sites, Fort Thomas Matters and River City News (now merged under the Link NKY banner). I reported primarily on local government and business development.

After two years of freelance reporting, I took a staff position at Cincinnati's ABC affiliate, WCPO-TV, as a web editor in 2015.

Over the next seven years, I grew from a web editor to beat reporter, learning to navigate the fields of transportation and development. I produced twice-to-thrice weekly real-time and enterprise stories on these topics for more than four years.

Ultimately, I returned to a leadership role back on the digital producer team for my last year at WCPO.

In late 2021, I crossed back over the PR-news “divide” and flexed my reporting expertise toward the role of external affairs manager at the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (Metro). There I oversaw public relations; media strategy; and digital and social media strategy for the region’s largest public transit agency.

As a recent newlywed in November 2023, I decided after lengthy reflection to step down from my position at Metro in favor of working independently as a contractor and consultant.

Doing so has granted me the flexibility to spend more time with my family, and I’m grateful to have their support as I venture into this new chapter.

Throughout 2024, I've already had the good fortune to work with some incredible, local clientele, including:
