Principal Message
Our staff and students have been working hard this term towards their educational goals. Each day I see the effort, persistence and pride that students bring to their learning, supported by the dedication of our teachers who continue to provide engaging and high-quality experiences. Together, we are building a culture of high expectations, continual improvement and a genuine love of learning.
One of the highlights of this focus is the upcoming Student Led Conferences. These provide students with the opportunity to reflect on their achievements, share their progress and set future goals alongside their families. It is a valuable chance for parents and carers to see first-hand the effort that goes into each child’s learning and to celebrate their successes.
We look forward to welcoming families to these conferences and strengthening the partnership between home and school that plays such a key role in student success.
Zone Athletics Carnival 2025: Event Recap
Last Thursday our students represented the school at the Zone Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day of competition, teamwork and school spirit. We are proud of the effort and determination shown by all students who participated, as well as the excellent behaviour they demonstrated throughout the day.
A special mention to two of our students who achieved some outstanding results. Oscar D was age champion in the Senior MultiClass Category and won both his discuss and shotput events. Felix J came 2nd in the 800m and 1500m. Oscar & Felix look forward to competing at the upcoming Sydney North Primary Championships.
A very big thank you goes to Mr McSeveny, who convened the event and ensured everything ran smoothly. Thank you also to Ms Levar for her support and to the many parents who helped on the day - your time and assistance made a big difference.
Our students returned with great memories, some outstanding results, and most importantly, a sense of pride in how they represented our school community.
Year 6 Canberra Camp
Last week our Stage 3 students enjoyed a fantastic camp in Canberra. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore our nation’s capital and connect their classroom learning with real-life experiences.
Over the three days, students visited some of Canberra’s most iconic locations, including Questacon, the Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial. Each stop provided unique opportunities for learning, reflection and fun. Students were especially excited by the hands-on exhibits at Questacon and inspired by the stories shared at the War Memorial.
A big thank you goes to Mr McSeveny and Mrs Ho for leading the camp and ensuring that our students were safe, supported and engaged throughout the experience. Their time and effort made the trip not only possible but also memorable for all involved.
Stage 3 returned home tired but full of stories, new knowledge and special memories. We are proud of the way they represented our school and look forward to seeing how they apply their learning back in the classroom.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion
Book Week & Education Week at Kambora
In Week 5, we celebrated Book Week and Education Week with a wonderful day of activities that brought our school community together. Families joined us for open classrooms, where they were able to see students’ learning in action, followed by our much-anticipated Book Parade. Students looked fantastic in their creative costumes, showcasing characters from their favourite stories with pride and enthusiasm.
A massive thank you goes to Mrs Allman and Mrs Cullen for organising the day. Their efforts ensured the celebrations were enjoyable, engaging and memorable for everyone involved. We also greatly appreciated the turnout of parents, grandparents, carers and friends who came along to support our students - your presence made the day even more special.
As part of the celebrations, students took part in a Book Swap, raising money for Reading Dogs Australia, an important initiative that has a direct connection with Kambora. Supporting this program allows us to continue building strong links between reading, wellbeing and student engagement.
Bullying No-way
In Week 4, Kambora Public School proudly participated in the National Week of Action: Bullying, No Way! Classes across the school created “positivity pegs” to share with others, using creativity and colour to demonstrate kindness and care. Giving a peg to another person was a simple but powerful way of spreading positivity throughout the day.
Students also came together in the playground, playing soccer and basketball, and even building natural “bug hotels” for some of Kambora’s tiniest inhabitants. These activities reminded us all of the importance of teamwork, respect and looking out for one another.
Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.
Spelling Bee 2025!
On Monday 18 August, our Stage 2 and Stage 3 super spellers represented Kambora at the Regional Finals of The NSW Premier's Spelling Bee Final. Conducted on zoom, It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their spelling skills and persistence under pressure.
Well done to Remy and Felix for making it through to the fourth round, an outstanding achievement given the level of competition. Both our junior and senior finalists faced incredibly challenging words, including reminisce and cetaceans.
We are very proud of the way our students represented the school and took on the challenge with confidence. Thank you for your hard work and for spelling words that most of us would need a spellcheck for!
Father’s Day Breakfast
This week we celebrated Father’s Day with a wonderful breakfast at school. It was a fantastic morning filled with smiles, conversations and plenty of bacon and egg rolls. The event was a great opportunity for dads, carers and families to spend time together and connect with our school community.
A very big thank you goes to Emma S for coordinating the event and to her dedicated team of helpers who worked hard behind the scenes to make it such a success. From organising food orders to setting up and cooking on the day, their efforts ensured everything ran smoothly and everyone was well looked after.
We are grateful for the support of our families in making events like these possible
Lunch with the stars
On Tuesday, 2 November, our students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Lunch With The Stars event. It was a day filled with inspiration, creativity and excitement.
The highlight was meeting Rowena (Mo) Davey, author of I Am Tree Rex, who engaged our students with her stories and activities. Students took part in a quiz and drawing competition, met a wide range of authors and illustrators, and listened to several inspiring guest speakers. To top it all off, they received a gift bag filled with books and enjoyed what one student enthusiastically described as “a three-course meal.”
We extend our sincere thanks to Northern Beaches Toyota for generously sponsoring the Kambora Public School student table, making it possible for our students to enjoy this enriching experience. On behalf of our students, families and staff, thank you for giving Kambora Public School the chance to be part of such a memorable event.
Congratulations to Miss Spragon
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that Miss Spragon has welcomed a healthy baby boy. Baby Jack arrived safely, and both mum and bub are doing well.
