Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Happy St David's Day!

We've had a lovely and very, very busy week finishing preparations for our very first Eisteddfod! We had lots of competitions to enter and we tried really hard with all our tasks in Nursery and Reception... take a look!

Nursery looked at the Welsh artist, Jenny Lambert. Some of the children had seen Jenny's work in Cowbridge so were very excited to have a go at painting her pictures. They looked closely at the colours and lines to make their paintings.

Reception invented a new dragon for the Welsh flag for their art competition. They used paint and collage materials. They also learnt a Welsh Folk dance to show Nursery children.

Reception also had some special visitors.... baby lambs! They had a visit from Farmers Mia, Tom and Jim and learnt about life on their farm.

Lower School all prepared to celebrate National Down Syndrome Day, which will be happening on 21st March. We all planted sunflower seeds in readiness to talk about how the growth of the flowers are all unique and different, just like all of us in Lower School. We are going to then take them home to plant in our garden to celebrate a very special little boy🌻

In readiness for our Eisteddfod, we asked Miss Rowe and Mrs Leftley to come and judge our competitions. They were all so amazing, it was such a hard decision for them! Diolch yn fawr both!

Today is St. David's Day and our very first Eisteddfod as a 3-18 school. We went over to 'big' school where we were treated to a showcase of musical talent. We then came back and found out who had won our competitions in Lower School. Obviously all finished with a glass of milk and some Welsh cakes! Blasus iawn!

Here is a sneak peek of some of our Eisteddfod...

We have loved learning all about Wales and our locality, what an amazing week! Have a lovely weekend everyone 😃🫶
