Hi Everyone,

What is most needed today?

We live in a world of constant changes. The demand for today’s society to be innovative is greater with every passing day. Our society has been tuned to be suspicious of the old and the used; and the Church is not spared from this spirit. I believe we must be innovative personally and structurally, and be equipped with the best since we know we have the most important message for mankind’s being and future – the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But what do we really need today? Is it better methods, systems or organizations? All these and many more are not wrong by itself. But, what should we be pursuing and what should be our greatest effort today, to be the Church that God wants us to be. We need a NEW ANOINTING (a fresh infusing of divine supernatural power) to continue faithfully doing what we must.

The early disciples were challenged, persecuted and warned to stop preaching Jesus (Acts 4:1-22). The fruit and manifestation of power that comes from the name of Jesus is undeniable. Vs 21-22. The threat did not stop them from continuing because they received a New Anointing when they prayed together.

“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:31

Innovations can be learned, skilled can be acquired, organizations can be planned, equipment can be bought; but divine power i.e. “The Anointing” comes only when we pray. We should not expect the institution of government or society at large to pray. Prayer and praying is the call of the Church. Jesus said, “…..He said to them, “It is written, My house shall be called a House of prayer… Matt. 21:13). The anointing was called “unction” in the old language. Leonard Ravenhill puts it so succinctly when he wrote,

“Unction cannot be learned - Only earned by prayer. Unction is God’s knighthood for the soldier who has wrestled in prayer and gained victory.”

I encourage the Church, Metro Tabernacle to renew our pledge to be a House of Prayer and give special effort to the spiritual business of praying together.

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matt. 18:19-20
