Track & Field Success for Junior and Inter Teams
Our Junior and Inter athletics teams have had a fantastic few weeks of competition. In May, they competed in the County round of the Track and Field Cup, with all athletes performing brilliantly. Their efforts earned both age groups a place in the Regional Finals—an impressive result, with the Juniors finishing second and the Inters third.
On Thursday, the teams travelled to Kingston to compete against some of the strongest schools from across London and the South East. There were plenty of personal bests on the day, and we are now eagerly awaiting the final results. Well done to all involved!
Year 8 Bronze Arts Award
On Thursday 11th June, as part of their Bronze Arts Award, our Year 8 students visited Kent College Prep School to lead a morning of Drama activities for the Year 5 pupils. The workshops, based on themes such as sea life, space, rainforest, and Medusa, were a big hit. Year 8 students were polite, enthusiastic, and brilliantly behaved, showing impressive leadership and creativity throughout. The energy and smiles all round reflected the joy and confidence shared between both year groups as they created their own Frantic Assembly Chair Pair and Round by Through sequences.
"I loved teaching Year 5 all the skills we learned when doing frantic assembly. It was so fun watching them learning and performing the skills to their friends." (Issy, Year 8)
"I loved being a mini teacher and seeing the Year 5s work together, learn so quickly, and light up with pride when they performed and got their stickers." (Jessica, Year 8)
We look forward to returning to the Prep School for another Arts Award workshop soon.
GCSE and A Level Art Exhibition
It was wonderful to welcome our talented students and their families to this year’s Art, Textiles, and Photography exhibition, which took place on Tuesday 10th June. The event was a fantastic celebration of the creativity, dedication, and hard work our GCSE and A Level students have shown throughout the year. The gallery space was alive with conversation, pride, and admiration for the breadth of artistic talent on display.
Please note: while we’re excited to share moments from the evening, we are unable to feature the students’ final pieces in this newsletter, as they are currently still being assessed. We look forward to sharing more once the marking process is complete.
Year 10 Geography Trip
On Wednesday the Year 10 Geographers completed their first piece of GCSE fieldwork, by visiting the River Tillingbourne in Surrey. They measured the width and depth of the river at three sites to investigate changes downstream and assessed the impacts of human interference at each location. The weather was perfect and the students completed the tasks with great enthusiasm. Well done Year 10!
New Firepit Donation from the KCPA
Thank you to the Kent College Parents' Association (KCPA) for our new firepit! Year 10's enjoyed a marshmallow roast with authentic S'Mores from the USA via Chaplain Katie. The KCPA has provided several items to boost community spirit this year including donations towards Year 11 Prom, items for the Eco Garden, new frames to display beautiful students' artwork in the hub, and much more!
Boarding Community Reflections
On Sunday evening, the KC Boarding Community gathered with Chaplain Katie to reflect on the pressure and stress that exams can bring. Inspired to support their peers, they decided to share uplifting messages along the route to the exam hall – small gestures designed to offer encouragement and a moment of calm.
"We hope that if you saw them, they brought a smile to your face or at least reminded you to pause and take a deep breath." (KC Boarding Students)
Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering
Between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025, Kent College Pembury students dedicated an incredible 559 hours to volunteering as part of their Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. This remarkable contribution equates to an estimated £3,576 of social value to our local community.
As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re proud to celebrate their impact. Volunteering is about more than giving time – it’s about building confidence, discovering passions, and gaining lifelong skills. Nationally, Duke of Edinburgh participants gave over 5.2 million hours of volunteering this year, a 10.6% increase valued at £33.4 million.
Thank you to all our students and supporters for making such a difference!

As the current leadership team will be stepping down at the end of May, they are seeking a new team, including a Chair, Co-Chairs, and Treasurer, to continue this important connection between parents and the school. They also welcome general volunteers to assist with events and activities.
