SUHSD Work Based Learning CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) AND OUR PARTNERS

Work-Based Learning

Welcome to the SUHSD, WBL Newsletter, Volume 6

"We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives." - John F. Kennedy

Note from Editor:

The holidays are nearly upon us and we are so very thankful for all that you have offered our students this year. CTE students had amazing experiences that included the most field trips of any year, exciting guest speakers, and dedicated mentors. Students appreciate this real-world input and grow so much through their interactions with you. We are deeply grateful and look forward to continuing to work with you! Please read on to learn about our many different volunteer opportunities. --Faith Velschow, Work-Based Learning Specialist, SUHSD

What is Work Based Learning?

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is an educational approach or instructional methodology that uses the workplace or real work to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will help them connect school experiences to real-life, work activities and future career opportunities. A quality work-based learning program, when feasible, should be an integral part of a more comprehensive program that integrates academic courses and career technical education. Students benefit from work-based learning that connects to classroom instruction. EC 51760 (a) (d) 51760.1 (e) (4-6)
