ARTISTIC Statement
My artistry is rooted in a deep appreciation for the transformative power of creativity and a personal journey shaped by growth, resilience, and discovery. After 15 years of classical ballet training marked by precision, grace, and emotional restraint, I came to understand both the value and the limitations of perfectionism in art. My time at Howard University broadened my perspective, encouraging me to explore vulnerability, embrace change, and uncover my authentic voice. Through experiences in acting, stage management, and diction, I’ve come to believe that the true impact of art lies in its ability to connect with humanity not through polished performances but through honest, imperfect expressions of life’s complexities.
As an artist, I see creativity as a force for freedom, truth, and social change. I am committed to championing diversity and inclusion in the arts by amplifying underrepresented voices and creating space for all forms of expression to thrive. I view vulnerability not as a weakness but as a bridge that fosters connection and encourages others to share their stories. My goal is not only to make art but to spark change to use my voice and creativity to challenge conventions, build community, and inspire others. By blending the discipline of my training with a commitment to authenticity, I hope to help shape a future where the arts are a beacon of truth, unity, and boundless possibility.
