How were welsh cakes found

Welsh cakes were a popular meal replacement in the 18th century and also in the 19th century in Wales. The cakes are a cross between a cookie, a scone, and a pancake. Welsh Cakes were traditionally made by the lady of the household as a treat to serve at afternoon tea, and were also given to children with their school lunches.

.1 Flour .2 caster Sugar . 3 Butter .4 Salt 5. Raisins 6. 1 table spoon baking powder .7 Cinnamon .8 1large egg .9 Bowl .10 rolling pin .11 whisk or a spatula.

We doubled the ingredients to make more for out class!.

METHOD

Step 1>First, we add 200g of purpose flour and 50g of caster sugar into the same bowl.

Step 2. Then, we put a teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt and another teaspoon of cinnamon into the same bowl.

step 3. After that, we cut 125g of soft butter and poured the butter into the bowl with the dry ingredients and we mixed firmly until crumbly consistency.

step 4. next, we added the butter our partner cracked one large egg into a separate bowl and we mixed the egg and poured it into the doughy mixture

step 5. Now, we carefully added a pinch of flour to the table so the dough would not stick, then, we poured the doughy mixture on the table and began rolling it about 1CM thick.

step 6. After, we got a bottle cap (a cup is fine too!) and firmly placed the bottle cap into the dough until a circle shape, after we used all the room we folding the dough and rolled it out again to get more dough for more welsh cakes.

step 7. After that, we sprayed cooking spray on the pan then we evenly placed the circle shapes into the pan and cooked them for about 1 minute than flip them over until both sides are golden brown.

step 8. when done, place them evenly on a clean plate and sprinkle some sugar on top for an extra bit of taste, then eat them and hopefully enjoy!.
