This week has been full of creativity and curiosity in Year 4! On Monday, we visited St John’s Cemetery as part of our ongoing project, Stories of the Stones. During our visit, we used specialist sound equipment to focus on the different noises we could hear all around us — from rustling leaves to distant birdsong. We also went on a leaf hunt, collecting a range of shapes, colours and textures to inspire us as we begin working on our winter poetry.
Then, on Tuesday, our friends joined us again for the next part of our art project linked to Stories of the Stones. The children have been sketching and designing their very own gargoyles, taking inspiration from the shapes and details found in the stonework around the cemetery.
On Thursday, our school celebrated Michael Rosen day. The children got to watch a live stream of Michael himself, reading out some of his wonderful poems! They even attempted to write their own silly food poems!
We also took a trip to our school library on Thursday. It was lovely to hear the children read to their friends and write some amazing book reviews once they got back to class!
In English, the children have been working on creating their own riddles! We are going to display these in the corridor to try trick our school friends and teachers!
