Celebrating Community
It’s been a fantastic year of celebration and connection! From the excitement of Halloween and Christmas, the creativity of special events and House competitions up and down the school, to the energy of Culture Day and the pride we felt on Graduation Evening, each month provided opportunities to come together and enjoy what it means to be part of our school community. Read on to see how the year unfolded…
September
We took a leap into the new school year with our annual fixture of International Literacy Day, with students exploring and coming up with brand new words for the English lexicon – cromulent, anyone?
October
Halloween & Fireworks Night was a hit as ever, transformed into a spooky feast for the senses by our wonderful Parents’ Association and our Sixth Formers with the classic Haunted House. Ochi Day also gave us a powerful moment to reflect on the meaning of courage and unity as embodied by thinkers of the Greek Revolution.
November-December
With winter settling in, Ms Dodds continued to pour fresh energy into our wonderful Friday afternoon tea ritual – now welcoming students from Key Stage 3 as well! Meantime, the Christmas festive season unfolded to the tune of cookie and candy cane deliveries, our exciting Christmas Market, the Christmas Concert, and our little ones’ Winter Wonderland play.
January-February
Chinese New Year celebrations energised January with our focus on red for an auspicious start to the new year, while Valentine’s Day was celebrated with our usual hundreds of flower and chocolate orders, in addition to serenades… Carnival was a kaleidoscopic offering as usual, including staff dressed up as historical figures for a brilliant ‘Guess Who?’ challenge!
March
We went all out for World Book Day this year, with students and staff dressing up as their favourite book characters in addition to many other activities. Greek Independence Day celebrations culminated in a dance with everyone joining in on the football pitch. We were also thrilled to host the St Paul’s Choir all the way from Baltimore – an inspiring display of professional musicianship and artistic dedication in action. Last but not least – our sold-out performances of the Beauty and the Beast musical, a true feast for the senses!
April
The Spring Recital celebrated the growth of our after-school musicians, while the amazing Junior MasterChef Competition – now in its second year – saw the whole Primary School sinking their teeth into exciting culinary projects. Sports Days were a hit, with Primary especially turning up the volume on their House spirit. And of course, our EYFS adventurers went on a Jungle Safari live at school to ‘meet’ their favourite animals up close!
May
As ever, Culture Day was a major highlight, bringing our whole community together for music, dance and food from all over the world – a tradition epitomising the diverse and vibrant identity of our school which we intend to continue for many years to come.
