Good Afternoon Dustdevils,
I want to thank all of you who helped launch our 55th Anniversary last week with a bang...an historic enrollment of 9,000+ students. Thanks for being part of our history and our ongoing legacy!
- We also had a chance to explore the mysteries of dark matter at a remarkable and well-attended lecture by a world-renowned authority on particle physics, Dr. Timothy R. Andeen from the University of Texas at Austin.
- Saturday was a fun time with our 5th Annual Zombie Run hosted by the Rec Center at the Jovita Idar El Progreso Park. Our thanks to all our partners and helpers who made the event memorable.
And more good news: we have a busy week ahead.
- Learn about the Rec Fee Referendum with Information Sessions this Tuesday and Wednesday. Voting is Tuesday, Oct. 28.
- We’re celebrating Energy Awareness Month on Tuesday by creating some Solar Smoothies in the Breezeway. Enjoy a smoothie and find out about solar power, energy efficiency, and renewable resources from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Don’t Be Self-Conchas (about Financial Aid) Wednesday, Oct. 15 featuring free conchas and answers to all your financial aid questions from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
- We’re recognizing the impact of our Masters of Public Administration program Wednesday as we mark its 25th Anniversary with program alumni, faculty, and program students.

- It’s time for our annual Maroon Madness Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the KCB. Meet our Basketball teams and coaches...and possibly win free tuition!
- Halloween Fest returns Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. on the ZSC Green. It’s free and open to the public. TAMIU’s SOLE and Campus Activities Board will offer a haunted house, games, food, fun, a pumpkin patch and Halloween costume contest as well.
- This boundless array of activities and events continue to underscore the transformative University experience TAMIU offers all.

TAMIU Celebrates Milestones with 55th Anniversary, Historic 9,000+ Fall Enrollment, and Naming of Seventh President
TAMIU students, faculty, staff, and alumni joined to celebrate milestones in the life of the still-young University.
“55 Years of Making Milestones, A TAMIU Celebration” kicked off the University’s 55th Anniversary with the latest pivotal moments in its history: the University’s largest enrollment in its history, 9,000+ students, and the appointment September 18 by The Texas A&M University Board of Regents of TAMIU’s seventh President, Dr. Christopher Maynard.

TAMIU’s MPA Program Marks 25th Anniversary with Wednesday Celebration
TAMIU) Master of Public Administration program will commemorate its 25th anniversary with a campus event recognizing its impact and alumni contributions to public service Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library's Helen Richter Watson Gallery.
The event is open to alumni, faculty, and MPA Program students.
Maroon Madness Returns Tuesday, Oct. 21
Maroon Madness is happening Tuesday, Oct. 21! Pre-Madness festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. - doors open at 7:30 p.m. Meet our TAMIU Athletics Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and coaching staff. The event is free and open to the general public!
TAMIU Halloween Fest Set for Thursday, Oct. 30
Join us for an evening of frighteningly good fun at our upcoming TAMIU Halloween Fest happening Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6 - 9:30 p.m. at the ZSC Green. Admission is free and open to the public!
Tickets are available for purchase to enjoy food and activities with proceeds supporting student organizations.
