On Wednesday, Bridie came in to work with the class again. The focus of this session was to learn the song we had helped her write. The class worked in groups to perfect a section of lines and create some actions to go with the words. They also worked as a class to create actions for the chorus. We will keep practicing this over the next few weeks to prepare for our next session - recording the song!
Maths: Problem solving
To help solidify our learning on multiplication and division, the class completed a problem solving maths lesson focusing on the idea of ‘I know… so I know…’ They worked in pairs to work through different problems and make connections between addition and multiplication.
Geography: Modern Day Greece
Following on from our learning last week, we thought about the impact of migration on Greece. Firstly, we went through the key definitions about the topic. Then we created a list of positive and negative impacts that migration can have on Greece. The children worked in groups to do this and then we created a whole class table.
Science week!
This week we had science week which meant we had a special one off science lesson! The theme for this year was change and adapt. We did an experiment relating to this by making slime but not having instructions to do it. The children worked in pairs with the correct ingredients and had to make changes to the slime based on what it needed. For example, add more cornflour if the slime was too sticky.
Once they had the correct amounts for each ingredient, they wrote a recipe for their slime. Afterwards, we demonstrated the different uses of slime. For example, it can be used to take moulds as a pencil grip and for cleaning.
Talent show auditions!
On Friday afternoon, we finished the week with the class auditions for the school talent show. The top three auditions will be chosen for the real talent show next week! Well done to everyone who auditioned, it is an amazing thing to do!
Science club week 2!
This week in science club the group checked their plants, did experiments testing different minerals to identify different rock types, and then got to go into the Luma exhibit. This was a giant inflatable robotic snail!
