COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

September 2024 Community Development Department Report

The Community Development Department has released its report for September 2024, showing notable increases in building activity compared to the same period last year.

Building permit valuations for September 2024 rose significantly compared to September 2023, with a corresponding increase in fees, largely due to major roof repairs at City Hall. The number of permits issued also increased, with 234 permits granted, up from 152 in September 2023. Notable permits issued included several new single-family dwellings and multiple accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

The Planning Department received 18 new applications, including nine ADUs, four home additions, three new single-family homes, a three-unit condominium project, and a major sign permit for a monument sign. Four new business licenses were also issued in September 2024 for a dental office, tire shop, design office, and a food truck.

Community Preservation cases saw a slight decrease, with a 2% reduction in cases opened compared to last year. Of these, 66% were initiated by inspectors and 26% by public reports.
