HANCOCK HEALTH CONNECTION CENTER
Hancock Health Connection Center – Recently announced the launch of ACE Interface Training. The training is designed to help people understand how trauma experienced in early childhood or in utero affects brain development and how the body responds to stress. Strategies to improve health and resilience will also be shared. The free, two hour training is available upon request. SRO Officer Rick Wilcher
Officer Rick Wilcher has officially joined the JBS Staff as our full time School Resource Officer. February 15 was national school resource officer day, and we certainly are VERY thankful for Officer Rick.
(Reminder) Kindergarten Enrollment for 2024-2025
Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open! Any child who will turn 5 years old on or before August 1, 2024 is eligible to register! Registration is key to ensuring you are receiving important communication from your home elementary school on next steps to start your child's education journey. Please help us spread the word!
JBS Kindergarten Round-Up Dates: April 15 & 17 from 3:00pm-6:00pm (appointments required) Information on how to set up an appointment for your child will be sent via email to families who register.
(reminder) Boosterthon Fundraiser
Our JBS Cougars Dance Fit fundraiser is kicking off this week! This is an online fundraiser for families and friends to simply make direct, monetary donations to our school! Nothing to sell or buy! Students will participate in a Dance Fit Event to work for those donations. We are hoping to raise enough money for a Book Vending Machine (see below for a picture of one)

KindNess Cougars
Mrs. King's 3rd grade class delivered a picture book about kindness to ALL JB Cougars! They raised money through their JB Way t-shirt and sweatshirt online shop, through local Organic Robots. Thank you to everyone who contributed. So many smiles as students gave a book and received a book. My heart is so full!
Family Literacy Learning Corner (reminder)
School Dismissal Manager (reminder)
All school dismissal changes now go through School Dismissal Manager. You do NOT need to call the office if you put your change/absence in the APP. You should receive a confirmation email from SDM with your update.
IPADS (reminder)
This year, student iPads will be turned off from the hours of 7:00pm-6:00am, as they are not needed for instructional purposes during this time. Please be sure and charge iPads each night and limit use of them for non-school purposes. Thanks for your help!
J.B WAY (reminder)
Our JB Way is our expectations of students. We expect JB Cougars to be Respectful, Responsible and Kind! When we "catch" students following the JB Way, they are recognized by earning a Cougar Buck. Students also earn a Cougar Buck each day they are at school. They can then cash those bucks in for small prizes and fun coupons. Big thanks to our PTO for sponsoring the prizes!
Snacks (reminder)
Each classroom at JB has a designated snack time to help our students stay fueled for the school day! Please send in a healthy snack with your child each day. You can also send in bulk items to share with the class, we are always appreciative of donations.
The office at J.B. Stephens helps provide snacks for students that may not bring them from home for the day. If teachers are out of snacks in the classroom, the students come to the office. As you can imagine, we can go through a lot of snacks over time! Any contribution helps!!! We truly appreciate it!

JBS School Hours (reminder)
- Doors Open: 7:30am
- Tardy Bell: 7:45am
- Breakfast (optional/paid): 7:30am-7:45am (if your child is eating breakfast at school, please be sure to get them to school by 7:30am, so they have plenty of time to eat)
- Dismissal: 2:10pm
Volunteer Form (reminder)
If you're interested in volunteering this school year, attending field trips, etc, all volunteers must complete a Volunteer Profile application, found by clicking here, before volunteering. This form must be completed each school year. We look forward to having you at JB!

- 2/20/24: Boosterthon Fundraiser KICK OFF!
- 3/4/24-3/15/24: IREAD-3 testing (2nd and 3rd grade only)
- 3/18/24-3/29/24: Spring Break; no school
- 4/8/24: Elearning Day-no onsite school
- 4/15/24: ILEARN testing window opens (3rd grade only)
E-learning Days: Students do not come to school, but complete online assignments at home, while teachers are in Professional Development.
