The Royals, seeded third, earned their spot in the final with a pair of convincing wins the day before—routing Catholic 25-5 and knocking off Elizabethtown 7-3.

LANDMARK IN NCAAs

For the first time in Landmark Conference history, three teams—Scranton, Elizabethtown, and Catholic—earned bids to the NCAA Tournament. The Royals secured the league's automatic qualifier, while Etown and Catholic received at-large selections.

Wilkes University

Under the direction of head coach Mike Guy, Wilkes University has put together one of its most successful seasons in recent memory. The Colonels finished with a 28-10 overall record and went 19-5 in Landmark Conference play to claim the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament for the first time since 1994. The team has found a strong balance between offense and pitching, positioning itself as a legitimate contender heading into the postseason.

Offensively, Luke Spencer has been a consistent force in the middle of the lineup. He enters the tournament ranked second in the Landmark with 43 RBIs and carries a .346 batting average with 34 hits. His ability to drive in runs has been a key component of the Colonels' success throughout the spring.

On the mound, AJ Levandowski has emerged as one of the top arms in the conference. The right-hander owns a 3.02 ERA—third-best in the Landmark—and ranks third in strikeouts with 57.

Wilkes will begin its postseason run on Friday, May 9, when it takes on Catholic University at 2:30 p.m. The Colonels will be looking to ride their regular-season momentum as they chase their first Landmark title.

Elizabethtown College

Elizabethtown enters the Landmark Conference tournament as the No. 2 seed, narrowly edged out by Wilkes for the top spot via the head-to-head tiebreaker. The two teams split their regular season series 2-1 in favor of Wilkes. Still, the Blue Jays carry plenty of momentum into the postseason, riding a five-game winning streak to close the regular season with a 27-11 overall record and a 19-5 mark in conference play.

Etown is looking to reclaim the Landmark crown after winning the title in 2022. Leading the way at the plate is David Woolley, who’s putting together an impressive season with a .391 batting average—third-best in the conference—along with a 1.052 OPS and 45 hits. On the mound, AJ Lipscomb has been dominant, posting a league-best 1.17 ERA, leading the league, to go along with 41 strikeouts.

The Blue Jays open tournament play on Friday at 11:00 a.m. against third-seeded Scranton in a rematch of last year’s conference championship.

The University of Scranton

Scranton enters the Landmark Conference tournament as the No. 3 seed after finishing the regular season with a 20-18 overall record and a 15-9 mark in league play. The defending champions are aiming to capture back-to-back titles and their third Landmark crown overall.

At the plate, the Royals are led by John Heitzman, who’s been one of the top run producers in the conference. He leads the Landmark with 46 RBIs, while hitting .345 with 51 hits on the year. Jake Elston adds another dangerous bat to the lineup, batting .331 with 45 runs scored and 43 hits. Both have played key roles in keeping Scranton competitive throughout the season.

The Royals will open the weekend against second-seeded Elizabethtown on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in a rematch of last year’s championship game.

Catholic University

Catholic University continues its strong postseason tradition, marking its 16th appearance in the Landmark Conference championship out of the 17 tournaments the program has contested. The Cardinals began their postseason run with a 10-3 victory over Lycoming College on Tuesday, putting them in a strong position heading into the weekend.

Catholic finished the regular season with a 24-16 overall record and a 14-10 conference mark, earning the No. 4 seed in the tournament. Offensively, Steve Thomas has been a standout, leading the conference with 52 runs scored, ranking second in hits (59), and also second in doubles (15). Mitchell Johnson has provided power at the plate, ranking second in the conference with 10 home runs this season.

On the mound, Sam Fairhurst has been a dominant force, leading the league with 60 strikeouts while posting a solid 3.15 ERA. The Cardinals will face No. 1 seed Wilkes University on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in a critical matchup to start the weekend.

Lycoming College

Lycoming College made its first appearance in the Landmark Conference postseason, earning the fifth and final seed in the tournament. The Warriors faced Catholic University in the opening game on Tuesday, falling 10-3. Despite the loss, Lycoming showcased strong offensive depth, with five players recording at least two hits in the game.

The Warriors have been a force at the plate this season, with six players recording over 30 hits. Danny DeLucas has been particularly impressive, ranking second in the league with a .418 batting average and leading the conference with 64 hits. Brody Lindsey has also been a power threat, leading the league with 11 home runs.

Lycoming finished the regular season with a 21-20 overall record and a 12-12 mark in conference play. While they fell short in the opening game, the Warriors will now focus on their next challenge, facing either Scranton or Elizabethtown on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
