WELCOME BACK OWLS!

The 2024-25 school year is off and running! Our Fall sports athletes moved in August 15th and have been full go since the 16th! We have over 70 incoming freshmen who have injected a new energy and sense of purpose on campus.

We've got some new coaches on campus and a new team! Please welcome Anne Ferry (interim women's lacrosse), Manny Perez (men's soccer), Chris Stroup (Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field) and Maxi Viera (women's soccer). In addition, our Strength and Conditioning Coach Valerie Cook will be heading up our newest sport: women's triathlon!

OFFICIALLY DIII!

First off, congratulations to our tireless leader, athletic director Robin Martin, our coaches, support staff and especially our amazing student athletes for earning full membership to the NCAA Division III!

WWC President Damián J. Fernández, Ph.D. remarked, “Our new status with NCAA Division III contributes to the momentum building across Warren Wilson College as we implement Our Progressive Promise for All, which promises student empowerment through learning for the mind, experience for the heart, and community for the soul.”

Women's Triathlon

Speaking of momentum... Back in December, Warren Wilson College received a Women's Triathlon Emerging Sport Grant through USA Triathlon. Triathlon is an emerging varsity sport across the country. Warren Wilson will become one of only 42 NCAA colleges and universities to offer triathlon as a varsity sport and one of only 14 NCAA Division III schools.

Our newest sport is headed by Valerie Cook assisted by Harris Wagner (cycling) and Rebecca Westfall (swimming). Coach Val and company will work together to help our athletes excel in each of the three disciplines and transitions.

"We are excited about this opportunity to provide our students with a unique athletics program to pursue," said Robin Martin-Davis, the Director of Athletics at Warren Wilson College. "We hope to be at the forefront as women's triathlon transitions from an emerging NCAA sport to one in which championship-level competitions are offered. We are also excited to further develop and build a minority presence in the sport of triathlon."
