Cost-Efficient Education

During the 2023-2024 academic year the average yearly price of tuition, fees, room, and board for students attending a two-year institution was $13,960.

This cost is significantly lower than the average yearly price of $24,030 for students attending a four-year college with in-state tuition and $41,920 with out-of-state tuition.

"I think for many years, people thought that community college was the second or last choice. And very often now, it's becoming the first choice because of the expense of a college degree, when we think currently in the nation there's $1.48 trillion in debt and 44 million people have student loan debt."

- Deborah Budd, San Jose-Evergreen Community College District Chancellor, on Stanford Radio: School’s In. March 2018
