For the 988 poster, I wanted to have eye-catching colors having them be bright but still muted to not lessen the weight of the subject. I noticed many of the 988 posters had a sort of campy happy vibe to them so I tried to replicate the same feeling.
The Tim Marrs-inspired project was extremely difficult as his style is full of bright colors and all sorts of crazy nonsense around the small poster. I tried my best to elicit those same vibes with the amount of colors I just and the graffiti-esque paint in the background and atop of the New Year ball.
This poster was for my parents as they have helped me out a lot. Shepard Fairey uses the same general colors and themes throughout most of his posters, he has a screen print person with text related to them and why they are in the poster as well as a bunch of symbols in the background about said person. I wanted to capture all the things my parents did for me such as providing me with a home and food as well as taking me on trips and trying to get me through high school, to top it off I used a quote from the movie "Bolt" that emulates the exact vibe of what my parents do for me.
This typography poster where I needed to use a quote and use fonts and imagery around the quote instantly made me think of the infamously funny quote from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". I tried to make a background that looked like a lake in England that would hold Excalibur. This project also taught me a lot about how to think about the specific way each part of a poster would look, I only had a small amount of objects to use in the poster, but I wanted each one to perfectly express their purpose.
I needed to participate in the "I Voted" sticker contest and I wasn't allowed to use any images off the internet. So I had to use my terrible drawing skills to attempt to draw an American flag and eagle, I wanted it to look a little bad on purpose because I knew that it could never look the way I wanted it to with my lack of artistic ability.
For the Psychedelic poster I mostly just wanted to add a bunch of inside jokes for myself while also keeping the vibe of a band festival. I made an arbitrary date of 2/2 on Tuesday because the repetition of the two felt funny, but also it being on Groundhog Day was a bit of a reference to one of my favorite movies. I didn't know any actual bands that I wanted to use so I instead came up with a list of Disney Channel shows I like and came up with fake names for them. The colors are slightly modified versions of ones that have silly hex codes, but I still wanted to make it look presentable so I altered to saturation of them so they wouldn't stick out as much but still give you that psychedelic punch.
