Message from the Leadership Team

Dear Noadswood Families,

As we head into the final stretch of the summer term, we want to thank everyone for continued support and partnership throughout this academic year. It's been a busy and rewarding time here and we are incredibly proud of everything our students and staff have achieved together.

It has been the biggest highlight of the week for me, reading and watching daily bulletins from our amazing team of Y10s and colleagues in Rwanda – so much more to follow in the weeks and months ahead, but I am blown away proud of them all and so happy they have enjoyed such a wonderful experience. They will say more when they are home, but the joy really does shine out of these pictures and so many more.

My second batch of highlights were on a scorching hot Tuesday, and all about student leadership! I met our new Head Students’ Team and with the first half of our incredible ‘Beauty and the Beast’ cast to congratulate them in person on all they gave to create such a memorable production. My choir is excited for the school concert, as is Mr Watkins and all our other fab musicians and singers. The choir also visits the Lantern Community in Ringwood after Activities Week. The music never stops!

I also met with Miss Ebblewhite’s brilliant big squad of Junior Prefects – she and Mrs Lavetiviti are rightly very proud of Y8, and these new student leaders are already in action in all sorts of ways across the school.

My third highlight is a combo of saying another goodbye to Y11 at their lovely Prom at Elmers Court and welcoming Y6! For Prom, it’s a big thanks to Mrs Way and Miss Fitzgerald and all the colleagues who came to join the students, as well as their families who did so much to make arrivals wonderfully special as always!

Year 6 were full of enthusiasm and threw themselves into everything yesterday – I want you to know I never underestimate the leap of faith it is starting at secondary school. It was so good to spend time with them, and I am looking forward to a mass sing with those of them that are coming to our Summer School day on July 23rd. Big thanks to Mrs Martin, Mrs Rollett and Mrs Stubbs for all that has gone into the prep for these days as well as to all our friends at the Primary Schools.

To any families with questions about the transition, please don’t hesitate to contact us at movingup@noadswood.hants.sch.uk—we're here to help every step of the way.

Do you know what? I am throwing in one more highlight – this week has been full of them. My thanks to Mrs Western, Miss McNab, Mrs Corps and Mr Abbott and all the student chefs in seriously hot food rooms who made superb pasta as part of Jamie Oliver’s World Record Challenge – you can see more about this here: Jamie's 2025 Pasta Champions - Guinness World Records

The students and staff showed such stickability and talent – the pasta looked really professional, and I was really impressed.

Next week marks more exciting times in our calendar, with a brilliant range of trips heading out as well as in school activities, including Bude, Paris, Paultons Park and more. These experiences create memories that last a lifetime—and it’s all thanks to the incredible dedication and planning from our Year Leader and Admin teams. They have worked tirelessly for our students to broaden their horizons, build confidence and enjoy time together in new environments—such an important part of their education. Thanks, too, to parents and carers for all your support with paperwork and payments! We know it’s been a lot!

Finally for this week, a big thank you goes to Mrs Costa, Mrs Smith, Mrs Mansbridge, Mrs Brown, and Mr Watkins for their brilliant work with our annual Arts Week for Year 5 students. This week we were thrilled to welcome young artists/musicians/dancers/actors and actresses from Marchwood Junior School, Hythe Primary, and Blackfield Primary. It was a delight to see our school buzzing with creativity, laughter and collaboration. We’re also incredibly proud of our Noadswood student helpers, who made everyone feel so welcome. These moments are so valuable—not just for the Year 5 pupils but for our own students: responsibility, confidence and pride galore.

As we head into this weekend, and a week when we will all be in different patterns and schedules, please keep in touch with us with any worries or questions in all the usual ways. You can write to info@ and we will direct mails accordingly, or you can find contact details on our website:

Best wishes,

🌞 Staying Cool & Smart in the Summer Term 🌞

As the warmer weather continues, we’re keen to ensure students remain both comfortable and in full uniform, so they can continue to focus and thrive during the school day.

To help with this, we’d like to remind families of the key elements of our summer uniform expectations:

✅ Shirt or blouse (tie optional)

✅ Tailored school shorts, trousers, or an appropriate-length skirt

✅ Black leather-style school shoes (not canvas or trainer-style footwear)

🚫 Please note: PE kit is not permitted as daily uniform under any circumstances (other than activities week as stated above).

💡 Uniform Hack: DIY Tailored Shorts

Struggling to find suitable school shorts? Here’s a quick, cost-effective solution:

Take an old pair of school trousers, cut them to your preferred length and hem them up — and just like that, you’ve got tailored school shorts!

Smart, comfortable and uniform-compliant. 🧵✂️

To help students stay safe in the heat, we also encourage them to:

💧 Bring a refillable water bottle daily

🧴 Apply sun cream before coming to school

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping us maintain high standards while ensuring our students are safe, comfortable, and ready to learn.

Careers

Work experience:

Next week, Year 10 students will be completing their work experience. The pre-work experience survey will be available on Frog until Sunday 6th June. All students must complete this before their placement begins on Monday. We would like to wish them all the very best of luck for the week ahead. Make the most of this invaluable experience; show the curiosity, resilience and ambition we see from you each day in school and enjoy it! Please remember to inform the placement as well as attendance@ in the usual way, to report any absences. If you need to get hold of the Careers Team during the week, please email Gordon Lewis at glewis@noadswood.hants.sch.uk and Miss Clews at jclews@noadswood.hants.sch.uk. We can’t wait to see the success of Year 10 and to see them thrive in the workplace.

College Open Events:

Many of our local colleges are holding open events over the upcoming months. We strongly encourage Year 10 students to make the most of these opportunities to see the college campuses and speak to college staff to hear about the courses and opportunities that they have on offer. Please visit the college websites for dates and further details. Please be aware that some colleges ask you to register your attendance in advance and some registrations for Autumn term open events are now open.

Upcoming workshop opportunity:

There is a SETA Workshop Taster Day on Saturday, 18 October 2025. There are limited places available for 1.00 pm sessions and booking is essential. More information can be found at www.setatraining.co.uk/seta/events-workshop-taster-day.html

Save the Date

Next year’s Careers Fair will be held on Thursday 18th September in the school hall at 2.50pm-6pm. Students in years 9, 10 and 11 and their parents and carers are invited to come along. This is a brilliant opportunity to speak to local colleges, employers and to get careers advice from Noadswood’s Careers Team.

Warrior Workshops – part of the work of our Therapy Team

We know, in this day and age, it’s resilience that carries us through an awful lot of life’s challenges, and one of the ways the Therapy Team helps with this is in our Warrior Workshops, led by one of the ELSA team members, Miss Harwood. Students also work with our other ELSAs, Miss Beales, our full-time colleague, Mrs Talbot, Mrs Gaunt and Mrs Merrifield. Some also work with Miss Lucas, and our School Counsellor, Mrs Blanco.

The pictures below show some of the work our students do to challenge their thinking and to get to know themselves really well

Awesome Alumni

Tom Weeks a Noadswood student 2007-2012

At Noadswood I was your typical student that got involved in most extra-curricular from Prefect to House Leader to Production Leader to School Council, I actively aspired to do the best I could. When I left Noadswood to attend Brockenhurst College, I was significantly involved with the student body and became involved again in many extra-curricular activities such as SU President, Student Governor, LGBT Rep, Health and Safety Rep and MUCH MORE!!!!

Since graduating with my BSc Hons in 2018, I have continued my studies in various fields obtaining the Level 4 Award in Leading Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice and Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. I am dedicated to career and professional development and my current studies include the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Health & Safety Leadership and Management, a PGCE Med Ed and my PhD in HIV Stigmitisation and Education in Health Care.

I have experience in various roles from working on the road as a Paramedic, as well as working within General Practice and Urgent Care, as a Lecturer in FE and HE as well as working as a Team Educator and Team Leader. This allows me to have a holistic view or all aspects of service provision for primary and secondary care. I am committed and dedicated to not only my own development but also that of others.

I currently work for the London Ambulance Service as the Governance & Training Manager within the Community Resuscitation & Training Department and have a passion for volunteering, health inequality representation, supporting with staff development, clinical practice and education.
