A MESSAGE FROM DR. VARNELL

Parents, we have many behaviors that needed to be reset. We met with students this week to reinforce our expectations that have been in place all year. There are many small behaviors that we need to get right. Students must have their cell phones OFF and OUT OF SIGHT to be in compliance. Any violation can be addressed by school administration. Students should wear their ID cards every day, all day. Students should keep their hands, feet, and objects to themselves at all times. Please help us by reinforcing these expectations with your children.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK - May 6-10

Being a teacher is a challenging job. We have some great people who are committed to your children and ensuring that they grow as students and as citizens. We invite you to email a teacher this week and tell them how much you appreciate them. The value of a student, parent, or community member telling a teacher about the difference they have made is powerful!

Summer Learning

Summer learning is recommended for students who have deficits in their reading and math performance. If summer learning is recommended for your child, you have received a notification from Ms. Beale. Summer learning will be at Boles JH for all Gunn students. The purpose of the summer learning program is to enhance students' content knowledge to prepare them for greater academic success in the upcoming school year. Summer learning is not for students failing their campus classes. These failures are usually caused by responsibility gaps. All students who are invited to attend have been contacted to register.
