This was my 2nd trip to Point Lobos State Reserve this year in less than 6 months, my last trip was unplanned one and I didn't get chance to spend much time here. I planned a whirlwind sight seeing 2 day trip across North Pacific Coast ( Davenport, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Caramel, Big Sur) with my cousin who came from Vancouver and stopped by at this place for cpl of hrs . The parking situation was so bad that we had to park car outside and walk a mile to see beautiful coastal vista points. Due to the limited time we were only able to see the Sea Lion Point, since then I was looking to go back to this place which I did last week and boy it didn't disappoint.
Through out the park there are numerous trails which offer, dare I say some of the best views of the pacific coast. I'd recommend to spend a full day to cover all the trails.
I've done parts of below trails all of which over look the ocean.
- North Shore Trail
- Cypress Grove Trail
- Sea Lion Point/ Sand Hill Trail
- South Shore Trail
If you want to enjoy beautiful views of sunset then south point is the place to be.
I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for a weekend getaway or looking for places to hike some gorgeous coastal trails in the world. No wonder this place is in the top of lists of places to be in Northern California.
