How to Make an Appointment at the Reading & Writing Center English and Communication Department | Wolfson Campus | Miami Dade College

About Us

The Reading & Writing Center (RWC) at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus is an academic support center that received the 2020 Exemplary Practice Award by the Association of Florida Colleges. We serve currently enrolled MDC students. Tutors are available in person and online to help students with their writing, grammar, reading, and speech delivery skills; their transfer and scholarship application essays; and their assignments for any reading, writing, or speech class and any other course that is reading/writing intensive.

Our tutors can share feedback and clarify the next steps for a particular assignment or help students assess where they are in their reading and writing skills and recommend what they should do next. Tutors can assist in answering questions students might have about assignments, course papers, and other reading and writing tasks and guide them through the process, better equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in class and beyond.

Scheduling an Appointment

To schedule an appointment, students can call us at 305-237-7023 or 305-237-3466 during our hours of operation or they can visit mdc.navigate.eab.com and select a tutor from "Wolfson - Reading & Writing Center/Learning SPOT."

Please keep in mind of the following before making an appointment:

  • Appointments at the Reading & Writing Center are an hour long.
  • Students can only schedule one appointment per day at the RWC.
  • Students who do not show up to their RWC appointment within the first 20 minutes will be marked as a no-show.
  • Students with four no-shows within a span of 90 days (no matter which tutoring center has marked them as no-shows) will be blocked on Navigate from making more appointments. Students who experience this must contact the lab manager or coordinator of the tutoring center that has marked them as missed to discuss a solution.
  • Students who make an appointment at the RWC should email the assignment instructions and their latest draft (if any) to their tutor prior to their appointment.
