Cowbridge Lower School Newsletter 18.10.24

It's been a week full of visitors this week in Lower School. So much fun and lots of learning!

Nursery have had lots of fun this week with so many engaging activities. They celebrated orange and brown day by wearing those colours to school as well as some impressive den building!

Nursery also had a visit from Rhodri from Rugbytots Mid Glamorgan for a taster session. They had so much fun and were full of smiles! Diolch Rhodri for coming to see them!

Reception have been learning about different food this week and used the story of Handa's Surprise to discuss food from Africa. They acted out the story as well as practising their ordinal numbers, zero and 1 less.

Reception had two special visitors this week, helping them learn all about food from around the world. Two very kind Mums came and taught the class how to make food from Greece and Hungary. A big thank you for giving up your time, the children loved having you in school! Blasus iawn!

Year 1 have been busy bees this week. Lots of adding, writing and their new favourite game of splat which we are using to learn new Welsh words which was getting louder the more games they played... Year 1 competitive? Of course not.... đŸ¤Ŗ

They have also been learning about real life superheroes and had a visit from Dan who works for Wales Air Ambulance. He came to speak to the children about his job and how the charity helps people who need it. Diolch Dan for coming to see us and tell us about what you do. We are looking forward to writing our own stories about 'Superhero Dan' next week!

Two of our pupils from our Year 1 class attended the whole school council meeting and asked for more instruments, footballs and for some of the bigger children to teach them basketball at lunchtime... our representatives spoke very clearly and all the big children were very impressed by how confident they were! Da iawn pawb!

Reception and Year 1 have continued their learning of German. This week, Frau Powlson came down and told us that Year 10 pupils have actually made us our own Schultute! You can see Klasse 10 making these if you head over to their Instagram page ccs_deutsch, take a look. We learnt all the German words for what will be in them and we look forward to receiving them next week... danke!

Lower School celebrated Shw Mae day with the rest of the school. They were tasked with talking as much Welsh as they could all day and they certainly rose to the challenge! Da iawn pawb, it was a tough choice for the winners!

We had a visit from Vale Food bank who came to collect all of our amazing donations. They were so grateful and overwhelmed with how generous our families have been. Diolch yn fawr pawb 😊😍

A reminder for all parents that we have our Autumn/Harvest disco on Monday so please wear party clothes to school and bring in a special party snack for your child to eat at the party đŸĨŗđŸĒŠđŸ‚
