Terra
Terran societies are somewhat prepared to engage with Gethenian societies.
Terran societies, particularly the Ekumen, have shown astounding patience in being able to wait a long time and a desire to communicate with Gethen.
A system has already been created for envoys to attempt getting planets to ally with the Ekumen.
However, there are cultural and biological barriers that may pose an issue in exchanges. Genly Ai, the envoy for Gethen, is an example of what may be common thinking amongst Terrans; Terrans may find it hard to accept the androgynous nature of Gethenians.
Please keep an open mind when communicating with Gethenians! Use the pronoun "he/his" when communicating with them if they are not in kemmer and are female as a result.
Gethen
Gethen societies are not as ready.
As the alliance is very recent, many Gethenians are still getting used to the concept of outer planetary visitors.
As of now, they are the only ones who can change gender during certain periods, so they find the permanent gender of visitors "odd" and, in some cases, "the works of a cult."
Please exercise patience when communicating with such individuals! Like you, they are getting accustomed to entirely new cultures and individuals with a completely different biology.
If you believe a Gethenian individual is threatening your life, report to the nearest Ekumen official or authorized Gethenian member.
Stay safe in Gethen! Do not follow individuals who exhibit suspicious behavior!
