The Chargers made their annual trek to Southern Indiana opening up at Jeffersonville. Junior Aiden Stephan started and gave Carroll 4 strong innings on the mound allowing 4 hits and only 1 earned run.
Jayce Richards pitched 2 innings of relief and Eli Neuhouser finished the 7th inning picking up the save.
Game 2 saw the Chargers facing Floyd Central. Adler Kellams started on the mound and gave 3 solid innings allowing only one run and Kyle Young followed with 3 innings of good relief allowing only 1 run as well.
The Charger offense did not manage much until the seventh when Carter Irons opened up the 7th with a single, followed by a Neuhouser walk and a Cooper Nichols single. to load the bases. Two batter later Jack Johnson knocked in the Charger runs but the offense could not get any more across the plate and fell to the Highlanders 3 - 2.
A quick turnaround to Saturday AM had the Chargers traveling to New Albany. Carroll jumped to an early 3 - 0 after one but a lot of back and forth action provided many opportunities for both teams to take advantage of scoring opportunities. Cooper Nichols hit a 3 run HR in the 5th to help Carroll take the lead before the Bulldogs fought back to tie it again in the 5th inning. Patrick Cain picked up the win in relief as well as having the go ahead 2 run single.
The Charger defense had a triple play in the 6th to styme a Bulldog rally and then a double play in the 7th to secure the back and forth game.
Many Chargers contributed to a successful opening weekend. Several highlights came from Adler Kellams who when 6 for 13 over the 3 games with 4 stolen bases. Cooper Nichols added 5 RBI's. Jack Johnson and Nichols each had 4 hits and Riley Geiger, Eli Neuhouser and Carter Irons each had a strong offensive showing.
